Amazing. One of the best weather forecasters in the United States is a rodent that lives in some tiny town in PA! All my years here and I've never been to the party on Feb. 2nd. Heck, I think it's a dry town! Don't know, but it sure is a beautiful piece of PA up there, and from my 1/2 hour I spent having lunch there, lot's of good ol' boys & nice people.

One of My wife's favorite movie.
I will watch it tomorrow even she is not with me anymore.. :(

Growing up, my mother, may God rest her soul, always awakened me on Ground Hog Day with a smile and the proclamation "Hurry! We've got to watch and see if the groundhog sees his shadow and it's Uncle Dillard's birthday!"

Here's to fond memories and family traditions that we love.

I was only there one time on my way home from Pittsburgh. We got stuck at the RR Crossing for 40 minutes while a 175 car freight train crept by slower than I could walk! While most people would be pissed, I kind of enjoyed it as I am into trains. I shut the car off, stepped outside and lit up a cigar watching the entire train go by.

Punxsutawney isnt a dry town, or at least it wasn't when I hunted in the area.
We hunted in Smecksburg and would go into town to the Army Navy club in town on Friday night. One of us made a bad joke about the groundhog to a rather large barmaid at the Red Caboose bar in town and were told not to make jokes about "their groundhog". We obliged.
