It's Jack Daniels time....

If we're doing it wrong it's because we want to so ****! As to libations, I can't tell the difference in Ezra Brooks and JD. Ezra is about half what the JD sells for and after the third drink who cares? I had only a half a shot left in the Jim Beam bottle I've been working on for the last few days so I filled the rest of the shot glass with Old Crow Reserve. I'm guessing this is probably a classier cheap bourbon. I'll find out after the half and half if I feel like one more before bedtime. So far it tastes pretty good. I want to be serious here. Natural disasters can happen anywhere in the country. I was caught "high and dry" during the great bourbon shortage of Hurricane Katrina. I went for days without bourbon and finally my good friend Max, a fellow forum member, and a little brown truck came to my rescue with a plastic bottle of Jim Beam. THAT, my friends, was the best tasting bourbon I've ever had. The moral of this story is buy it by the case. When that case is half empty (or full, depending on how you look at things) buy another case. You never know what will happen.

Funny we do it all wrong and they come down here. Really like your warehousing idea

Don't mean offend or bring up old rivalries but you guys don't know what it is to be treated like the Beverly Hillbillys in your own hometown. I was born in GA and have traveled this whole country and love every part of it. I take great joy in the different ways and cultures of all the places I've visited. With that said I'm sure I can get confirmation from others that we in the south seemed to be inundated with folks that come to our areas and proceed to tell us why we are so backward and stupid. I love this country and have dedicated over 23 years of working overseas away from my family to protect and defend it. I've said this before and will stand by it the people ( what we call yankees) that we don't like weren't liked by the area they came from. Again sorry if I've offended I truly do like and enjoy every area I've ever been in the US

yes,yes

You're kidding me, right?

There is such a thing?

i have been on tours of scotch whisky dist. they buy barrels from jack daniel's brewery to age scotch whisky in.......i have been told in scotland that that is the best barrel for ageing scotch in......

Hard ta believe y'all cannot purchase a bottle of Jack after going through the process on their tour.......dry county, ya know.

One other question, actually, two. The guy who bartered with me earlier called today and said he had something else to give me. Just got back with 2 bottles (unopened) of Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 Brand in 750 ml format. He said he had them for over 20 years in a closet.
2 questions:

1)Is a fifth the same as 750 ml?
2)Does this stuff go bad after a certain number of years?

thanks.

Ed

If you can't find Jack Daniels try some George Dickel. The distillery is about 40 miles east of the JD site. It's cheaper and has the same taste. I think the limestone water is the secret to the taste. Probably the same aquifer for both sites. As a long time bourbon drinker and TN native I can vouch for it. As to the Yankee's it's a problem all over the south. Nothing like someone who leaves their homeland to come down and tell us what we're doing wrong. Wouldn't live anywhere else though

George Dickel is 12 miles from Lynchburg where that "other" so called Tennessee Whisky is made. Dickel is made in Cascade Hollow 1.5 miles from my house in Tullahoma, TN. IMO, it is superior to JD, smoother and dosen't bruse my ice.

I use George Dickel for cooking just about everything. Sometimes I acutally put it in the food.

Come see us and take a tour of both facilities. But you can't take of sip of Jack in Moore County since it is a "dry" county. Once you try both, I predict that you will buy the Dickel.

Well, I forgot to ad that I do not discriminate when it comes to burbon or whisky but, for burbon I would recommend to anyone who is a shoots firearms or who drinks shots to try Bulleit Burbon. Made in Lawrenceburg, KY. You will not be disappointed! :)

When I was in college the group I ran around with didn't have a lot of extra cash. We all took a pint of Ezra Brooks to the football games. It was the cheapest bourbon that was decent. Anything cheaper really gave you a bad headache the next day. More expensive bourbons tasted better, but Ezra was the best value.

Not true anymore, actually for quite a while now. TN passed a law (or maybe Moore county) that allowed JD to sell commemorative fifths in their Visitor's Center. I've bought several bottles there over the years.

I believe the rest of the county is dry, however.
