Today begins the stringing of over 2 million Christmas Lights at the Opryland Hotel, here in Nashville.

If you've never been to Opryland during the holidays. It is something to behold. They do it up. It's absolutely Beautiful, both the decorations and the Hotel itself. And allot more to do here in Nashville during the Holiday Season!

So if you can. Please make plans to come and see Nashville this fall! Plenty to do, Great Food (including real Nashville Hot Chicken), BBQ, real southern food, The Grand Ole Opry, take a ride on our Giant river boat, live entertainment everywhere, visit real Honky Tonks on Lower Broadway with Great Live bands nightly. Great Shopping. Many Historical Sites, tour the Country Music Hall Of Fame, the Ryman Auditorium the birth place of country music, Much Much More!

Bring the family and spend a few days with us! You'll be glad you did!

5 seconds ago, I looked at my weather online. it is 95 degrees outside and the heat index is 107, somehow Christmas is the last thing on my mine. But on an upbeat note, over dinner last night, a close friend and I did actually discuss traveling to North Pole, Alaska which is somewhere north of Fairbanks but possible just a little before the Arctic Circle is reached. I do have dreams of being there at this time, does that count?

See ya in Nashville in December

I have seen that display many times and it never ceases to dazzle me.

Then again, a night at the Bourbon Street Boogie Bar in Printers Alley has the same effect.

The Stockyard, Mere Bulles and George Gruhn's are hard to beat.

But can you get a good Brisket in Nashville ????
Haha

Took the wife to Cracker Barrel for dinner yesterday and they
already have all of their Halloween stuff out for sale in the store ???
It's in the 90's today and humid as all get out.

That just ain't right !!!

I have been to North Pole Alaska. Actually I do not think I could honestly tell where Fairbanks started and North Pole left off. Close together. Even went to Santa's Workshop. Was there the first week of September. The weather was like late October here in the Ozarks.

It's obvious your familiar with Nashville! If you ever get back this way again, please PM me and i would LOVE to meet ya! And buy you a big ole glass of Iced Tea!

But, I would wait till fall! It's hotter than heck here right now!

Yes, a Place called Judge Roy Bean's. In Brentwood Tn, a rich suburb of Nashville. They only serve BBQ beef/brisket. No pork.

I was never a fan of brisket. Had it a few times and it was as tough as leather. Until I had theirs. It's Melt In Your Mouth Good! Texas style! I'll only eat their brisket! It's KILLER!

SW MP15, you ever make it over to Gallatin? My B-I-L is partner in a lunch place called Momma's Kitchen in a strip mall next to the hospital. It's a meat and 3 (this Yankee had never heard of it til we went for the grand opening). I love the conrbreaded fried catfish they serve on Fridays :)

Be on vacation in 2 weeks and spend Saturday & Sunday nite at the Grand Ole Opry. Will the Xmas lites still be on at the Opry?? Staying there is something my wife always wanted to do. We'll see a consert Sat nite and Sun we'll do the hop on hop off to see the sites of interest in Nashville. Monday we wake up and head to the Gatlinburg area for the rest of the week. Have a cabin with a mountain view. Should be fun to relax in a mountain setting. It's tough being retired.

Any recommendations of things to see in Nashville? Hope the on-off bus route covers a large area with most of the popular things to visit.

On the way down from Cleveland, we're stopping at the mamouth cave. Larry

Nope sorry, I think they light em in November. In two weeks, they probably won't even have the 2 million lights up yet. I "think" the lights run from November 11th through January 7th?

Lower Broadway is a must see. All the Honky Tonks with live music every night of the week. Country Music Hall Of Fame. Ryman Auditorium. Right off Lower Broadway. The Old Acme Feed Store, The Wild horse saloon, the lower Broadway area is jamb packed with restaurants and gift shops etc. all within walking distance. River Front Park is very pretty at night, along the Cumberland River. Also within walking distance from Lower Broadway.

Tennessee is a gun friendly state and recognizes most states carry permits.

We go to Gallatin quite often. It's about 25-30 miles north east of Nashville. It's in sumner county. But has almost become a suburb of Nashville.

I'll have check it out. It sounds right up my alley. Nothing better than Good ole southern fried catfish and iced tea!! Throw in some white beans and fried Tators, I'm in heaven!

I'm fix'n to google it now. I might have to make a lunch run there, next week!

I just googled it. The reviews are GREAT! Easy to find as well. I will have to try it the next time I'm up there! Thanks!

Awesome! He originally moved to the Nashville area to make a go of it in music. He had some moderate success, enough to even get a video cut, but "making it" is such a long shot. He still plays a few gigs here and there, but has settled into a more "normal" life.
