It's snowing in Africa!

Capetown South Africa is approximately the same distance south of the equator as Albuquerque New Mexico is north of the equator. Why would it be surprising if SA got the same sort of snowfall as New Mexico does? It may be a few weeks early, but not unheard of!

South Africa just got a heavy snowfall that has made traffic a mess. I've seen an article that says both that two meters of snow fell in some areas, or that the drifts were 2 meters in some places. Yeah, that'll mess up traffic alright. And I thought Californians don't know how to drive in snow!:D

I love it when northerners say things like that. Yet the news will be full of reports on the 80-car highway pileups up north at the start of every winter. yet have one pileup every ten years or so in GA and it's "Those southerners don't know how to drive."

That's because Atlanta hasn't had measurable snow since 2018, so they only have enough snow to cause any kind of pileup about every 10 years. People in Buffalo, Bangor, Butte and Brainerd get tons every year. You can't say people know how to drive in the snow, when they never get the chance to do so. Except when they come north at the beginning of winter and they cause a pileup. Because they can't drive in snow.:D:D

That’s probably the only TOTO song I like.

Steve Lukather, the guitarist in TOTO said in his book, "The Gospel According To Luke," "If that's a hit, I'll run naked down Sunset Boulevard." He didn't care for the song, and he hasn't run down Sunset naked yet. (probably a good thing, now):D

He also said he's probably collected something north of $250K in royalty checks for the song. So I guess he's ok with it now.;)

Don't you mean a few weeks late?

New Mexico doesn't get that much snow, at least since the 1980s. The last major, I mean, major, snow storm that shut down ABQ was 1992-3ish and that was maybe, maybe, a a foot.

Until the late 80's, there was an advert for Taos Ski Valley near the I40/I25 interchange and it had a digital counter of the total amount of snow in inches. It wasn't unusual to see 200+ inches. The sign went away in the late 80s. Then, again, the that was the wet part of the cycle. Now, there's the tumbleweed snowman in the approx location of the old sign.
