for barrel change and rebluing for over six months now. Anyone have to wait this long before? What seems to be the problem? Every time I call just get the same old "in refinishing" answer. Are they that far behind?

Mine has been there for a little over 4 months now. Origibnal estimate was 12 weeks but as was said, they're right out straight and they do quality work. Should be worth the wait..

They are running "24/7." Be patient. They do quality work, and the end result will be worth it.

Are you positive about this? Last time I called they said their gunsmiths were gone for the day. Where do you get your info from?

I just today posted pictures of my gun in a thread started by a different member :

http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-smithing/318417-factory-reblue.html

My revolver was sent in by a local dealer on Jan. 22. I responded to an estimate of repair ( refinishing) and paid for it on Mar. 12. The gun was back to me on July 2. In yet another thread, it was explained that there was a time difference caused by paying when the gun was sent in, pre-paying that is, and responding to an estimate ( leading to increased time ).

My battered old 29-2 refinish and misc. small work took right at 10 months a couple years ago.
At that time, the whole place shut down a couple weeks for summer vacation so that time was added into the wait also.
In the end it was worth the wait:

S&W just got a $230 million contract for "perimeter security systems" from the .gov. I'd reckon guns shot to the bottom of the to do list. Joe

I sent a 66 no dash to the factory on March 12th, to have it retimed, and the rear sight repaired. They received it on March 13th. I received an estimate letter on May 19th, and mailed a check back to S&W that same day. I got the revolver back on June 25th. I was surprised it took this long to do such a simple repair, but it functions like new.
