IWB Appendix made easy....Part 1 of 2 parts

If you wish to try this carry style these tips will help you and make it an enjoyable experience. Forgive the attire but it's cold here but these tips work winter or summer clothing's....

First things first....You need a decent body shape .. large beer bellies need not apply....You need a good sturdy holster..I am not a fan of Kydex as I have never seen a Kydex holster that did not mar up the finish on the weapon.

For IWBA carry you need a few things....
1st....Holster needs to have a belt claw to draw the weapon into your body.
2nd...Holster needs to have a back side push pad that will push the grip of your weapon into your body and help stop any grip leanout.
3rd...holster needs a clip that allows for full finger grip when you need your weapon in a critical situation. To many holsters have a clip that rides so high the grip of your weapon is riding on or just a half inch above your belt......

I carry the new Shield Plus carry comp (4 inch barrel and 7 inch slide with absolutely no problems........Part 2 of 2 shows how well the weapon fits to the body with these additions.....

I was a strong side only guy for my entire life but recently discovered AIWB carry and really like it for a variety of reasons. I have tried several holsters and have found that the single clip type let the holster move around so that the draw stroke is compromised. The double clip like the ones made by Tier 1 concealed are my favorite. I also have not found that kydex mars the finish in all cases. I shoot a lot of rounds and do multiple draws during range practice weekly as well as dry firing. My Sig 365 X-Macro has very slight holster wear.

Yes the double clip holsters are very stable also...the belt claw does basically the same function and holds the holster stable even while moving around, bending, or sitting but best of all it pushes the grip into your body.......I used double clip some years ago but did not like the way the grip would tend to lean out after sitting.

Bruce Nelson

For those wanting the advantages without the disadvantages of the appendage position, Bruce Nelson - most famous for what Jeff Cooper labeled the appendix position - actually carried just forward of his hip with the muzzle to the rear, outside the line of his body.

He wrote about it in 1980, showing that Cooper was wrong in describing Nelson as using a forward rake holster.
