Considering the purchase of a holster for CC and would appreciate some input. Let me start and say that the only weapon I have that is appropriate is my vintage Star PD in .45 acp. For those not familiar, it is essentially a 1911 clone, no grip safety, the size of an Officers model. Recently traded a Glock 30 I had - would have preferred it. Now, I know this is an S&W forum, and I would have liked to have had my K-frame RB snubs of years gone by - esp.66's - but alas, they fell victim to other trades. So till I get another S&W wheelgun - like the new hammerless lightweight snubs, maybe one in .44 ! - I'm left with what I have.
Question: recommendations for a holster? I'm reading IWB, Milt Sparks Summer Special gets rave reviews so far and is affordable (somewhat). Thoughts?
Sorry for the long-winded question.

I was reading a post, and decided to try a Cleveland Ugly Holster. It is posted somewhere in this Forum. I have ordered one in horsehide. $49. Looks like a dusy!

I have a Glock in a Bianchi 100 Pro holster. Comfortable for an inside the waistband holster, available in stock from many vendors and not expensive. It's been around a long time and well-proven too.

Holsters are like shoes...one size/style does not fit all. I have a whole drawer full of holsters, but my Go To everyday holster for my S&W M&P9 Compact is my Crossbreed Super Tuck. I just put it on for today, will wear it all day and hardly know it is there. If I had bought it first I would have saved a whole lot of money. Two week free trial....might want to give it a try.

Crossbreed is a good one if you're ok with kydex. I like them and have one for my s&w gen 3's. With a proper belt I have no problems carrying the heavy 5946 and 1006. For my Glock19 I have a Galco king tuck and im not very happy with it. I don't know if its the slightly wider Glock or the fact that the leather is much thicker or a combination of both but I find that while carrying theI G19 in that set up im always trying to readjust my jeans or belt or undies even though the Glock is about half the weight of the Smiths. Only way to really be sure is to use the same holster for both.

For my work carry, a Kahr CW9, I have a crossbreed knockoff. Made by a local guy. Nice holster and does what it was designed to do.

IWB holster

try the Galco N3 for complete discreet wear. I use it for my Springfield XD .40 cal 4 inch and it does not print. It is comfortable and I recommend it highly. But, of course, I am a big fan and user of Galco. You know the old saying, "You get what you pay for". Hope this helps.

One thing I thought of first- the holster must retain the pistol, and most these days are made specifically for one gun- or a series of similar guns. Wonder if it'll be difficult to find one for yours..
I, too, have a Crossbreed for IWB, love it. Also have a Cleveland- it's ok, about half the price of the Crossbreed- but I- this is only personal experience- had to cut both the kydex (to get it off the mag release) and the leather- it was huge. The big piece of leather may be more comfortable to some, it kinda made it hard for me to put on. I also have a Mitch Rosen leather belt holster- man, good quality, and smells like a saddle- love it.

I have drawers full of holsters. I've found that I don't always want the gun exactly in the same place/angle every time, depending on what I'm doing.

Try a REMORA. No clips to hang out and can be put anywhere, at any angle.:D
