I had a shield I carried in a PJ Holster. It carried comfortable and very lightweight

Not much for criteria to go on. How do you want to carry it - IWB, OWB, AIWB...? There are several possibilities.

If this is your first carry and you want IWB, perhaps get a remora or sticky holster so you can get familiar with the location, cant and ride height that works for you. While the Shield is quite thin and easier than most to carry, don't neglect getting a decent belt, too.

Once you have that information you can get something that mimics that set up in another holster, be it in kydex, leather or a hybrid.

Good luck

Buy the highest quality holster you can afford....most of my herd rides in Kramers, Milt Sparks, DeSantis, Gould & Goodrich, Bianchi, several Lobo (no longer being made as Ray is retiring), Allessi, Ted Blocker etc.

Also buy the sturdiest belt you can find.....if you can fold it in half vertically is is NOT sturdy enough.

I carry mine in a N82 Tactical Professional and also have an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 2.0 and both work well. The N82 is my go to when not wearing an undershirt as it completely isolates any part of the gun from touching your skin. The Alien Gear is my go to in cooler weather with an undershirt. With the AG holster the grip of the gun is exposed allowing it to rub my skin which will create a raw spot after about half a day but an undershirt tucked in behind it solves this problem. Both are worn at the 3 to 3:30 position and are very comfortable. Also, a good gun belt as already mentioned will make a world of difference with any holster.

Holsters are very personal so you may not like any of the holsters recommended here. Unfortunately the only way to find out is to give them a try and find out for yourself.

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to my lgs this afternoon to look at a few and try some on. Gotta find a belt too!

belt is the first thing to find. next up, call Milt Sparks and get the VMII. got 'em for my Hi-powers and 1911's. IMHO, best IWB made. next up is the Milt Sparks "summer special". Galco makes a copy of this called the summer comfort or an upgrade called royal guard or desantis cozy pardner... spend the money, you won't regret it.

Another recommendation for the Milt Sparks Versa Max II. Yes, it's expensive and a long wait to get one but believe me it's worth it! I can carry my Browning Hi Power comfortably all day in one. My gun belt is from The Beltman. Simply said, it's the best belt I've ever had.

As far as a sturdy belt goes....I have used Carhartt work belt for years...priced right and are plenty sturdy.

I've been carrying both on duty and off duty for 45 yrs. I have 3 guns that I carry concealed. Colt Defender .45, a Taurus pt145 Millenium 11 shot .45 and a Charter Arms Bull Dog .44 sp. I carry all three in Alien Gear Cloke tuck 2 with a Belt Man belt. Most comfortable carry I ever had. All three holsters cost $105 and that included shipping. The belt was $80 more. If your just buying one holster it's going to be a lot less. Alien has the best guarantee around. But, like the others said, you have to have a sturdy belt. Good luck.

Versa Max or SSII

I have a SS2 for my G19 and really like it. I think I'll go with a Sparks for my new 3913 but am waffling between trying a VM2 or staying with the SS2

What do you like about the VM over the SS?

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm gonna give the alien gear cloak 2.0 a try and pick up a good belt to go with it.
