IWB Shield Holsters

Got my Old Faithful holster in the mail yesterday and put it together in about 20 minutes. Carrys nicely and you can't beat the price. Still deciding how high I want the gun to sit, have it at it's lowest right now and find it to be comfortable. Rides nice and low, but not to the point that I feel like I'm sitting on it. Need to wear it more and break it in, and planning a long car ride come thanksgiving so we will see how it feels during that.

Well I carried it on the 9 hour car ride downstate, as well as for a majority of the weekend, and the 10 hour car ride back (thanks to a snow storm...) and I must say I am very happy with it. The leather has started to form and is very comfortable both sitting and moving around. Again I have mine in the lowest position so only the top of the slide and the grip are above my waistband, and I find it does not bother me at all. Drawing the gun took some practice, but that's with all holsters. Best of all, not one person noticed it until I showed them, and that was in everything from a t-shirt to a sweatshirt and jacket. The clips are tight and it's tough to get into place until you're used to it and know right where you want the clips on your belt. Overall, I'm very happy and plan to use it as my EDC holster for a while.

Thanks for the review. I've got it narrowed down to either the Old Faithful or PJ Holster. If Old Faithful has the option of changing out the kydex for different firearm so that I can use it for my Shield and my Ruger SR40c, I think I'll go with The Old Faithful. Since the Ruger is much heavier loaded I think the larger holster will spread the weight out more evenly. Thanks again.

I got a PJ holster from a member on here for my father in law and it turns out to be a really nice holster. I wore it for a day just to try it out. Very comfortable and its a minimal style holster which I like. Its a very thin kydek that forms tothe gun very well.The clip is built into the kydek making for slim fit. Might just have to order myself one too. The holster came with a mag holster that fits the shield mag very well and is easy to carry OWB.

Honestly if you get the newer style leather ones with the double clips, they are all pretty much the same with a few personal differences. Check out Hikock45's youtube channel on it, pretty fair handed review of the different kinds. I have one and I do like it, I prefer to carry the 6 round magazine in my Shield 40 just cause it feels better.

I would however like to get one of these with the grip facing out to the right with a magazine holder bolted right next to it, and wear it more of a behind the back style and a little to the right. Reaching high up on your belt line just behind your hip can be a bit of a pain in the elbow and wrist if you are trying to get to it fast, but if they weapon was flipped around it would be much more ergonomic.

Figure out which way to grip it is more comfortable for you first and were you are going to put it, then find a holster that fits your own body best.

Addition: If you are new to the leather wrap IWB holsters, There really is no break in period on decent onces. The leather should be a soft leather lighter then a jacket and it will conform to your body only after 10 to 20 minutes of wearing and doesn't require 'Years' of breaking in. So if someone tells you it needs to be broken in to be comfortable, they are just trying to sell you some junk.

You're welcome. You are able to change the kydex on your holster, another nice part of it coming not assembled. I'm sure you can order kydex molded to your SR40c, or just a sheet of kydex and mold it yourself, and then all it takes is removing 4 screws and putting the new piece on. When you order there holster they also give your 3 different size screws and spacers to let you adjust the tension on the gun, which will help for making the holster fit both guns properly.

I don't know why, but I thought I already posted in this thread. I completely love my Old Faithful. I built myself, and picked up an extra piece of Kydex. I did a bunch of molds until I was happy. It was my first time using the material. You can re-use the Kydex many many times until you get your mold to your liking....or you can order pre-molded. Below is a link to my pics of my project. OMG, that video is crazy. I know you don't remember this but 50 years ago the toy maker Mattel put out a toy called
The Vacu-Form. It worked the same way except it had a hand pump that pulled down on the heated plastic and sucked it around a mold.
Good job on the holster.So, if I don't have a suck-a-form machine like the one you designed in the video,
can the warm kydex be formed by hand until you get the desired shape and fit?

I carry a G26 in a Sparks VMII now and just picked up a Shield to try out. Until I commit to the Shield as my carry gun and am able to receive a VMII for it I am looking at the PJ holsters. For those who have carried it for awhile, any issues with the mag release not being covered. Looks like it could be an issue...? Thanks for your feedback.

The vids on Old Faithfuls site are informative and show how to mold with foam. I found a video for the vacuum box online. A much better one than mine. I used srap wood...it gets the job done. I don't plan on making more molds...so it worked for me.

Yes sir! I have owned that same one since the spring and love it! In fact, I love my shield and infidel so much I've made my "summer carry set up" my year round set up.

I was carrying an XDm 3.8 compact with a pearce grip extension in a comp Tac MTAC. The shield and the infidel are so nice, comfortable, light, dependable, and easily concealable that I don't see myself carrying anything different anytime soon.

For quick trips or walking the pup I use the remora but for daily use nothing so far has touched the n82tactical pro for my Shield. It just works and is super comfortable, stable (really like the retention and twist release). I liked the supertuck but the double clips annoyed me after a while but its a good holster as well

Might as well chime in. I mainly appendix carry my Shield in a High Noon "Mr. Softy"
The holster is thin and light, really adding nothing to the gun.

I have the N82 IWB and it works for my Shield and FS 9mm as well and is the most comfortable IWB holster I have ever tried.

Just an update on my search for a quality IWB holster. I finally settled on the FoxX Trap for my Shield and Little FoxX for my FS 9. Couldn't be happier. Like I said, quality product, good price, and great customer service. But I've heard nothing but stellar reviews for N82 and Crossbreed.

Here is the Don Hume IWB holster I use for mine. It's made for a Sig P228 & 229 according to their website. Fits great, maybe has a little extra room in the bottom from the short barrel but othwise its fine. Would prefer to have the one with the body shield to protect the gun but this was free from a friend.

Just got my Shield this past Fri. Had a iwb holster for my Sig 239 made by R Grizzle. It fits the Shield like it was made for it. Shield is a little shorter than the Sig so the barrel don't go to the end of the holster.

N82 Holsters are the best kept secret out there. Top notch quality and service too.

I recently got the N82 Tactical Professional Series Holster and it is really excellent! Extremely comfortable, conceals well and excellent quality. The positive retention of the "polycarbonate" plastic is reassuring. When I saw it on their web site I was thinking it might be thin and a little fragile but the material is solid - without being bulky - and very strong. I think it will last me a long, long time.
