I appreciate the information on IWB holsters for a CS40 I found the Deasntis IWB will fit all three CS9,40,45. I have never carried IWB just front pocket I need to know if you buy your pants & belt any larger to accomodate the pistol and I know you need a stronger belt with the belt clip model holsters.

Unless you wear you pants very tight, you should be okay...just try the holster with what you have...as for the belt, you need a decent one with whatever holster you use...the only difference with a clip holster is to make sure the leather is not so thick that the clip does not fit over it.

It really seems to depend on the person. Some claim to need larger pants, others don't. Personally, I've never had an issue carrying IWB with my normal clothing. If anything, I just have to let my belt out a notch.

I prefer a good quality gun belt for carry. My most used belts are reinforced with kydex. One is a nylon 5.11 Operator belt and the other is the Aker B21. Both are really great values and cost less than $50. I like the stiff reinforced belts because I typically carry a steel 1911 and a reload or two.

I carry IWB almost exclusively. A good belt is just as important as any other type of carry. I find my regular pants size is comfortable for about 2hrs. After that it gets less comfortable. I typically wear my pants up one size in the waist and it makes a difference for all day carry.

No larger belt needed. I carry my duty weapon (sig P229) and off duty weapons exclusively IWB. Milt sparks just sent me a summer special II for my 686+. It wears quite nice, actually. Just make sure your holster and belt are of GOOD quality and you will have no problems.

I buy most of my holsters from El Paso Saddlery; however, I have two Don Hume IWB clip holsters and I love them. I think all the Hume clip holsters are $30 or less and the leather is excellent and stitching is fine.

About 30 years or so ago I used to carry IWB and it was OK. Now that I have put on a few pounds and my pants are tight without trying to stick a gun in there as well, it's very uncomfortable for me. I usually carry in a Kramer Horsehide Belt Scabbard and when that is not practical, a DeSantis Nemesis Pocket Holster fits the bill. I guess like the rest of us, experimentation with different rigs will be your best guide. This way you can find what is best FOR YOU, and then you too can have a draw full of useless holsters, LOL!!!

IMHO, It pays if carrying IWB all day long to purchase a holster with a 'flap' on the inside next to your waist to cushion you from the handgun while making normal movements of the waist. Autoloaders usually require one inch larger pants and revolvers usually require two inch larger. The holster needs a little forward cant to keep the butt of the handgun from projecting out and 'printing'. I find that a belt of wider and stiffer construction than a normal man's dress belt is a requirement for optimum carry.

You will find that the feature of the handgun that determines best conceal-ability is the size (width and length) of the butt, not the length of the barrel. The barrel length comes into play only in determining the time needed to make a clean draw and presentation. I wouldn't want to try to carry a Ned Buntline Special, but any round butted S&W revolver with a 4 inch barrel or a Colt Government Model 1911is just fine with me. ........ Big Cholla
