I have a Russian IZH35M .22 target pistol I have been shooting since 2001. It is amazingly accurate, and eats any ammo but prefers the standard velocity. Recently the trigger will not reset. I can push forward and it will fire, but it won't reset on it's own. It is clean. There are multiple trigger adjustments for take up, over travel, sear engagement, pull weight etc. something has gone wrong and I am looking for a gunsmith capable of diagnosing and fixing the problem. Of course this happened in the 9th week of a 10 week bullseye league.

It is an entry level Olympic caliber pistol, and a clone of what the Russians used to win multiple Olympic medals. It will take someone familiar with these type actions.

I would appreciate any recommendations of a gunsmith you feel capable.

Thanks

Sounds like it could be the trigger return spring. Had one break on a Tanfoglio CZ copy a few years ago and had the same issue, everything worked but the trigger had to be flicked forward.

Happened during the middle of a speed steal competition.

Sorry, con’t help you with a gunsmith.

I believe I have gotten it fixed. Local friend, trap shooter but talented unofficial gunsmith tore it down can discovered a build up of locktite on the inside of the shroud where the slide bar runs back and forth, and when the rear shroud screw was tightened caused enough bind that the trigger spring wouldn't allow the trigger to reset. Scrapped the residue off parts and cleaned. I fired 5 rounds without a hitch.

The locktite evidently got there when the previous gunsmith re-installed the rail (to hold the red dot sight) and used excessive amount of locktite to secure the screw's on top of the shroud. I have confidence it will now run O.K.

3/28 Shot the gun in the bullseye league Tues night, and it performed very well, unfortunately the operator didn't perform as well and the scores were much so so. Such is life when you get past 78 years old.

Good to hear, HR. Not fun when your main BE gun goes down. Even less fun when it's an exotic or one-off.
