CaliTrav - My 640-1 is charged with 135 gr Gold Dot .38+. I have shot .357's with it but it's not a lot of fun. Smooth wood boot-type grips are good for pocket carry and don't catch on clothing or gather lint/debris. Personally I like S&W's factory-wood target stocks or rubber --Hogue, Pach, etc.-- on my range and field guns. Recently I added a Tyler T-grip to a couple N-frames with magnas and that's working well. I just acquired a J-frame Tyler T grip and will try that out with a set of magnas or Patrick Grashorn stag stocks. But I'll stick with the wood Spegel boot grip on the 640-1 for pocket carry.
