J Frame Holsters?

Any recommendations for 2" J frame IWB holsters? I've only really carried my J frames in pocket and ankle. Now I'm looking for a nice inside waistband holster for my J frames( 34,36,49). I'm leaning towards classic leather but I wouldn't mind hearing about some kydex options. Thanks!

I was never a huge fan of IWB holsters but recently purchased a N82 holster for my Shield and love it. It is not leather so that doesn't help much, but it is very comfortable.

I have owned a Ted Blocker IWB for years and didn't use it much but it has held up well and was good for appendix carry.

Others on here have raved about the Lobo Gunleather Off Set Belt Clip model or a similar style to that from other makers.

Look up members Lobogunleather, Bell Charter Oak as they make nice IWB rigs. Member Snubbyfan normally does OWB but has made an IWB before. All are top quality holster makers.

I use a N82 (Nate Squared) original for my 638. I am completely happy with it.

I have the Lobo w/offset belt clip and it carries quite well. For me it is more comfortable than the Milt Sparks Summer Special that I used before.

I'm using a cheap Galco. It worked fine once I repositioned the clip for a little forward cant.

Works well enough for me.

My choice was the Bianchi 3S.

I used it when I was "driving" a dispatch desk, rare plainclothes duty, OD use. 100% confident in it.

Believe it or not, after trying a number of different holsters, my favorite has been a cheapo Uncle Mike's inside the waistband holster.

The best part about it for me is that you can unstitch the belt clip and reposition it however you want to get the perfect can't and riding height. You can really get it to feel exactly how you want it to feel.

Plus it isn't as bulky as many of the others.

I like Crossbreed Supertuck in horse hide. You can wear it all day with no discomfort. What ever you get I recommend horse hide. And it is kydex also.

Have a look at Wright Leather Works. I have two of their OWB leather holsters and their workmanship is second to none. The fit and retention is second to none. Here is a photo of my 640-1. The barrel sticks out a bit because it is a little longer than 2". They do make IWB holsters for your gun.

I have the Lobo offset and also recommend it, although I do not often carry a J frame. My recollection is that his turnaround time is pretty short, amazingly so in many ways. 4 weeks, maybe less. It was not a front burner issue for me at the time so I do not recall for sure. Look at his website and you might find an estimate.

I carry my G26 IWB in a hybrid holster so I'm not new to it. I've just never carried any of my J frames IWB.

If you've never carried IWB before, you ought to borrow some you can try for an hour first. Reason being, there are two major platforms... the regular style holster like all those in the pics, and the "Crossbreed style" with the large (5 x 10 inch or so) backer panel.

After dropping $10 here and $30 there and finally $70 on a Bianchi, I finally decided IWB was just too uncomfortable. Then I heard testimony about the comfort of the Crossbreed, Alien Gear, SuperTuck, etc. style and decided to try one. After a little research, I settled on the all-synthetic Stealth Gear model, due mostly to the testimony of guys who wear it in hot, humid climes. I bought one for my 340M&P (pricey at ~ $100) and have no regrets.

DrButcherMD, I urge you to purchase a good quality combat belt with the IWB holster. Otherwise you will likely not be pleased with the result.

The holster, even an IWB, will be far more comfortable if it's belt loops fit to the proper belt snugly. Try Mitch Rosen's site. He makes fine holsters and belts. Only buy a holster with the same belt loop size as your good quality combat gun belt (two layers of leather, stitched along the sides).

You seem to have found what you're looking for, but just for another view from someone who's carried J-frames IWB since the 80s:

My opinion may be the odd one out, but I've found all IWB holsters sized for J-frames to hold the gun too high for my taste. More or less accidentally, I discovered that the Bianchi holster pictured below, which is sized for K-frame snubbies and which I originally bought for a 2.5" Model 19, holds J-frames absolutely perfectly and securely without needing any straps and without being picky about the belt. Occasionally I've actually carried my superlight scandium 360 in it clipped to sweatpant waistbands without any belt. I got the holster in 1983 and have no idea whether it's still available.
