First post here, woo hoo! Now that I got that out of the way, I shall continue with why I'm here:

I found two guns that were in my gun cabinet at home that my dad didnt know we had, and figured they were my grand dad's, why they were. I called Smith and Wesson to find out when they were made and I was told the Model 37 Airweight was made in 1976 and the Model 15-4 was made in 1981. Both are in extremely good condition and are all original as far as I can tell. The M37 has the original box and manual and an extra set of grips in the box.

I have taken both of these guns with me to college because I needed something to shoot and my dad wouldnt mind me taking guns that werent his. My grand dad is heading downhill so I doubt he even remembers he bought both .38 specials, the J frame being for my grand mother and he kept the M15-4 at the office under his desk. He has a Bianchi leather police holster that I assume he bought for it as thats what it was in when I found it.

Does anyone have any idea what these two guns are worth? I dont have much of an idea and was wondering if I could find out on here just to have some sort of idea. I doubt either one of them were fired very much, if at all before I got ahold of them. I use the M37 as my concealed carry pistol at the moment.

I think the barrel measurements are 4" for the M15-4 and 3" for the M37. Its measured from the front of the cylinder right? I have a ruler in the pics for reference.

M15-4 serial: 91K7512
M37 serial: J454750

Thanks for you guys help in advance.

Wow, those are very nice. Yes, the barrel length is measured from the front of the cylinder.

I would say that both are worth at least $400. BUT, if these came from your grand father, I would think they are priceless.

I do like that 37.

Both shoot very nice. The 37 fits like a dream with the bigger grips and shoots a about 1.5 inches below POA at ten yards with lighter 130gr or so rounds that Walmart and other places have in stock around me. The cylinders on them still lock up and spin very well, and triggers on both are about perfect. Like I said, I doubt they were really ever fired.

The 15-4 is also dead on. Put a tennis ball sized hole in the paper last saturday.

I have to agree with palmetto, if I saw them for sale I'd expect $400 or maybe a little more but if they were my grandfather's no one could buy them from me. Nice guns.

I wont ever be selling them. Gotta start a collection somewhere.
