J Frame Round Butt to Square Butt

I saw an adapter years ago that would change a Round Butt to Square Butt.Anyone remember such a thing? Want to purchase a 3" Model 37 Round Butt and put a pair of Grashorn Caribouu Square Grips on her.Any help will be Deeply Appreciated!

The S&W square targets would convert J round butt to square for shooting if you prefer. I often do swap them from SB M34 to RB M36. No adaptor required.

Talk to Grasshorn and see if he can make up the rd to sq conversion grips. He's pretty easy to work with.

I bought a set of Herrett round to square grips for a Model 63 I have

I did this to "convert" a round butt to fit square butt grips, and it has worked just fine.

I made the block out of a small scrap of maple, and then dyed it black (I used leather dye) and glued it in place with a small dab of epoxy, so it can easily be removed if the next owner so desires.

I like it infinitely better than the round butt. Round butt "no bueno" on an N frame.

Sile made a set of wood grips for the round butt J frame that would cover the frame as the service grips would and extend back at the bottom, giving the square butt service grip profile. This without the bulk of target grips. Available online, perhaps?

These are examples of what he is talking about. They came from S&W in checkered and smooth. They work equally with round (as both of these are) and square butt grip frames.

Might want to check Fleabay. They have some original S&W conversion grips. You might have to play with how you phrase your search to find them.

They are modified factory j frame targets with the metal washers. I cut about a 1/4 inch off the bottom and cut out the football into a speed loader type. A speed loader still won’t fit but ejecting shells works better. They were on eBay. I modified them.
