J Frame Rubber Grips for 340PD

The 60000 grips are fine on my j's for all usual loads, +P and standard, and on the 60-15, they helped the recoil, but it's still a .357. Thumps hard, and not a great idea in a sub 24 ounce gun. It still hurt.
The new owner is about 5'5", maybe 140 soaking wet, and regularly shoots .270, 30-06 and 45-70 to hunt, and loves his AR's and his CZ 9mm sub gun copy for plinking. He put a double trigger in the CZ for fun - dumps a 30-round mag in about five seconds.

Found them on Ebay. They look pretty promising.

Either of you know if this is a different material than the Monogrip “rubber” grips for the J frame?

S&W J-Frame Round Butt: OverMolded Rubber Monogrip - Black

Also, are the Taurus revolvers round butt?

ETA: While searching Ebay, I found a number of the old “tamer” grips item #60020. Still produced, it says Centenial, but one of the ads shows model 642, so therfore should fit 340PD.

One photo shows material as “soft rubber”. Anyone have these and also have the #60000 Monogrip? If so, are the Tamer version softer rubber?

Hogue # 60020 fits the S&W Centennial J frame. Centennial is a generic name for the F frame " hammerless" which includes the 642 and the 340PD among others. This is a very comfortable grip that does tame recoil but is about 1/2 inch longer than the bottom of the butt. It is a two piece grip. The main body appears to be the same as the Monogrip. the bottom portion (only about 1/2 inch) seems harder.

Yes. i am thinking they are the same except for the hammer vs hammerless option. I will call Hogue later today when they open and post the answer here so others interested can also gain some insight.

So, I spoke with the Hogue rep and upon discussing the #60000 Monogrip vs #60020 Tamer I was told that the Tamer grips were at least 30% bigger(width wise) than the Monogrip. The materials however are the same. I’m thinking that the wider (more material) Tamer grips should help reduce felt recoil, and am going to give them a shot.
