JAMES CAAN HAS PASSED

A much admired actor. His role as Santino "Sonny" Corleone was unforgettable.

Here Sonny is seen offering some guidance to his brother-in-law Carlo after learning that Carlo had mistreated Sonny's sister.

As an old Sicilian guy from Brooklyn " I get It":eek:

RIP Santino..

It’s no wonder that Carlo helped set the toll booth trap that killed Sonny. A terribly violent scene, they even kicked sonny in the head after filling him full of .45s. But Carlo got his in the end.

I agree that Caan was fantastic in Elf.

RIP

The Gambler, 1974:

Think I only saw it once, in a cinema in NYC, when it first came out, but it has stayed with me for his credible depiction of someone with an accute gambling addiction. Caan's performance made me understand — to the extent a non addict can — the problem for the first time. (Especially the blackjack scene. The Gambler Holds the rush in vegas - YouTube)

Rest in peace.

"All true stories end in death"
Yeah, you got that right. The older WE all get, the more our good actors and musicians' lives come to an end. Just like our fur friends.
Just read my signature below from an original member of the "27 year old club."
Rest in peace, Mr.Caan.

Jonathan--Jonathan--Jonathan--Jonathan-JON-A-THON-JON-A-THON. I loved Rollerball.

One of the great movie lines about a gun: "It only holds five", when the rangemaster gives him the 454 Casull in Alien Nation. Rangemaster's reply: "Hell, you only need ONE."

He was a man's man, good actor, and a lifelong martial arts practitioner. RIP, James.

RIP James Caan. Had to watch my BDs last night of Thief and Way of the Gun, two great roles for him. I just watched the Godfather movies a couple of weeks ago. Think I'll watch Freebie and the Bean tonight.
