Jesse Ventura Changes Suit To Taya Kyle

When Ventura was the Gov. I respectfully wrote him three times to ask what medals, awards, or citations he got for his service in the Navy. I had been given a copy of his book for Christmas and was looking to see if he was legit. I wasn't asking for details about " secret missions " or anything like that. I wanted to see if he had a Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, or a Combat Action Ribbon.
I got no response.

Here is briefly what was said to happen.
During his promotion of the book in January 2012, Mr Kyle spoke about the alleged fight with Ventura, saying that he punched the former governor when he was making anti-war statements outside of a bar frequented by Navy SEALS.

Not only was the bar popular among military service members, but they were also there in droves at the time because they attended after the wake of a fallen SEAL who threw himself on a grenade.

'He was bad-mouthing the war, bad-mouthing (former President) Bush, bad-mouthing America,' Mr Kyle told Fox News' Bill O'Reilly.

'He told us that we were killing innocent people over there, men women children, that we were murders,' Mr Kyle said, adding that he told the governor to tone down his rhetoric.

'And then he said that we deserved to lose a few guys.'

That's when Mr Kyle slugged Mr Ventura in the face, he says.

'That happened? You knocked him out?' Mr O'Reilly asks.

'Well, I knocked him down,' Mr Kyle responds.

Mr Ventura denies that version of events, and believes that the lawsuit is necessary given the possibility for profit by his widow.

Mrs Kyle's lawyer said that the refiling of the suit 'comes as a disappointment, but no surprise'.

'Continuing this action will serve no useful purpose, and likely will promote public perception of Jesse Ventura as someone who has little or no regard for the feelings and welfare of surviving family members of deceased war heroes,' lawyer John Borger told The Star Tribune.

They also use the term, "Tall poppy." Means that someone is full of himself , too vain.

Will someone say simply what Kyle did that upset Ventura?
I don't want to click on a link that may be void or have viruses, or read a long article.

Suing Kyle's widow is a good way to win an unpopularity contest.
Just so you know:
"Tall poppy syndrome"means the person who does well is attacked by a lesser, jealous person. Kyle was the tall poppy, the achiever. Ventura the envious one.

As I recall it, Ventura had a concealed carry permit before he was governor. Then as Gov he fought against allowing Minnesotans to have them.

Lost a lot of respect for him back then.

If I had any left it would be gone for sure now.

I have a very small amount for Mr. Ventura for his service to this country as a Navy Seal and his service as Governor of Minnesota. But Imho has a few screws lose.

I think that if you check that out, you will find that Jesse Ventura was NOT a SEAL.

P.S. Correction: Sorry, I thought I deleted this post. As far as I can tell, Jesse Ventura completed the same training as SEALS back when UDT & SEALS all trained together. Senior Chief Don Shipley, who busts fake SEALS, says that Ventura is as good as the real thing. I don't know enough to say any different, and wouldn't be motivated to argue with the Senior Chief, anyway.

I have googled it. Basicly he was UDT but never saw action. I havent either.

Ventura always was a loose cannon. After entering politics it got worse. Now he's on a downward spiral towards oblivion.

Just like: Bieber, the Kardashians and the like.

PS, I never have watched or heard anything of the above mentioned just so you all know ;-))

I am not one to watch much TV, I don't even have cable. But I read a few articles and it seems to me Ventura is suing the estate and it's nothing personal against the widow. He has no beef against her but if he feels he was defamed by untrue statements published in the book he has a right to legal action. Maybe the best way is to sue the publisher? I don't know but I am sure that is what this amounts to. The media will never report it correctly anyway. Why does everyone assume Ventura is just out to make a poor widows life hell? You guys are falling prey to the nonsense you read and watch on TV. Go ahead and blast me but my advice is to get out more.

Actualy personnal feelings aside on both sides, how would you or I feel if someone in print and on tv claimed they cold cocked us and that when we were a professional one time wrestler and in the public eye as a govenor etc, IF we knew it was untrue? Now kyles widow only knows what he SAID for sure. She never wrote the book or claimed to witness it. No matter who you like on this deal we still dont know the truth, and do we need to know? Were I ventura no matter what the truth is that he knows to be, I would simply drop the law suite with a simple statment he is dropping it out of respect to kyles widow and family. He would get more mileage and respect out of that than he would with any money even if he won it.

To the contrary. Ventura has sued the widow of a seal who wrote a book. The man is asking for monetary damages. If he wins the widow will personally be responsible to pay the verdict/judgment. The publishing company has provided defense attorneys but ultimately the widow will have to pay, not the publisher nor any insurance company. Ventura says this isn't about the money, but restoring his reputation. I love it when folks say it ain't about the money...

I recall that Kyle signed over all the royalties from his book to a couple of vets' charities. When he died there was a big fundraising campaign among his friends and others in the gun community to help out his widow and kids. Ventura is suing for whatever little money she has. One wonders if Ventura's lawyers are pushing this to pay for all the time they spent. He should just drop it, regardless of whether the story is true.
