Walkin Jack's knife thread got me to thinking about Jim Shugart's corn on the cob recipe. He usually makes an FYI post but since he isn't around here much anymore I'm going to post it but give him the credit. Really works and so much easier than trying to remove the silks.

The key is to have a very sharp knife. I like a 6" chef's knife. Just do like the video and enjoy. :)

Never seen that technique before. I usually peel corn, butter, wrap in foil, and bake in an oven or barbecue pit. I'm going to give the microwave a try.

Hmm... I cook them in a water brought to boiling for a few minutes after the peel, that's all they need is all. Some boil them for an incredible amount of time, making the kernels a ghastly, chewy nightmare. If you boil them for only a few minutes, they retain their toothsome mouthfeel and produce the most delicious morsel of an eatable!

you can usually find Shugart on the Sig Forum. He's their resident expert on poodles, and, uh, pharmaceuticals.

I've never tried the Microwave but I think I just will next time I cook corn on the cob! Thanks for posting.

I usually just thrown the entire fresh corn (husk & all) directly on the grill. When it's all black and nasty looking, it's done. Peel and eat. That said, your Microwave trick might be a better method so the corn stays moist, gonna try it. :)

Well if you are out in the great outdoors fishing and no microwave around build a fire and pack river mud over the corn and toss in the coals. Go fishing for 1/2 hour. When you get back pull the corn out of the fire and break the dried mud off. Peel and eat. Best C on C there is. At home the microwave is faster and not quite as dirty as mud in the oven. LOL

Adds a nice flavor when there's a big worm in the ear, lol. Worms don't fair well in a microwave!!
They do add needed protein to the corn.[emoji1]

This is not only quick and easy I think it has better flavor than boiled.
