JM 625 vs. PC625

Looks and price as far as I can tell.

I got the JM mainly because of the full under lug, (Matches my 617 and 686.) The trigger might be a bit smoother on the PC version, but I can hit 6" steel at 75 feet DA, 2 handed and standing. After about 500 rounds will probably change out the springs for the ones Jerry sells. The grips on either I would change out and really do not like the ones on the PC version.

What are the differences between the two?

Mainly the type of rifling. All else seems pretty superficial. I have both guns because I had to give up trying to shoot lead from my JM. The PC isn't perfect in that regard either, but after getting it back for an off axis forcing cone angle, I expect the trace leading at the forcing cone to go away. My JM is reserved for jacketed and perhaps coated bullets. It has enlarged throats and an action job...a really good shooter if you feed it right.

I'd go for the PC merely because it doesn't have JM written all over it. Nothing against JM, I just find it kind of cheesy - as with any superfluous writing or images on firearms.

PC has a "shorter" cylinder making the jump from cylinder to barrel less.

The free space the bullet has to travel is less in the PC.

I would only be using my own bullets that I cast and powder coat.

JM Laser Mark

I agree with Dr. Lou about the JM logo. If I bought a JM I think I would have the right side plate replaced with a plain version. Ruger does the same thing with their Match 357 revolver with Match Competition or something similar lasered all along the barrel. I prefer to buy earlier models without all the warning labels rolled on the barrel as well. Willyboy

I appreciate all the information. It looks to me like the PC might be a better fit for me as I will shoot my own cast and powder coated bullets. Don't like the looks much and the grips are strange, but they can be changed. Part of my problem is I like regular blued 4" N frames!

For grips I put Hogue round butts on. Same as my other three Smith revolvers.Comfortable, sized right and easy shooting. An added bonus is the right of them is pretty high and mostly covers the JM logo. Win/win!
