Thought you guys might like to see my new tractor a 4044R.
Long story but bought a new 2038R two years ago.
Dealer botched an aftermarket third function kit installation to run a grapple. So I decided to up grade, pretty much got all of what I spent on the old one including implements. Plus the new one has the same horse power as my favorite smith.
I was riding the lawnmower, while the grandson was riding his 12 volt. After that we hopped in the big one and moved some brush.

That is sooo sweet. A real chip off the old block.
Years ago, when I worked at the Deere Dubuque plant, they had a company that made really nice and sturdy licensed die-cast miniatures. Since your little buddy has green tastes like his grandpa, he might like to play with a table top sized version.

John Deere makes a good machine, my 318 garden tractor turned 36 this year and still going strong.

I also have a 1984 318, runs great and is frequently used.

A bad day on a John Deere is a rare thing and even then beats a good day on a different tractor. Going on rides with your grandson is icing on the cake, OP. I hope I can live long enough to do the same (no grandkids yet)

I bleed green, have owned a RF110, a 120, 212, 214, 318, GT235, X748, and a 2520 over the years. Still have the 318, GT235 and 2520.

The last compact utility I ordered was a 4720 in 2005. I factory ordered the servo to the front so i could use grapple and angle blade. We got hit with tornado in 2014 and the grapple bucket saved a lot of hours picking up residue from the storm. Moved snow, with pallet forks unloaded trucks and did mow some but due to number of trees and how close the were together the 4720 was not the machine to mow with.

This past summer has been the wettest on record in my area, and the grass mowing has been very frequent. If I went more than four days between mowing, the grass looked about like this:

My John Deere 3038E compact utility is what I use for mowing, maintaining our driveway (all 900 feet plus of it), plowing snow, loader work and various other jobs around the farm. I bought this tractor new in 2015 just for the jobs I described and it's been a great machine. It has more than handled every job I have given it.

I'm a huge John Deere fan.

Trying to wear out my third 212.

I don't have pictures yet, but I just bought a mid 80s 318 that has been rebuilt with new motor, tires, paint and seat. I've wanted a 318 for sometime and this seems to be a great machine.

My son bought a 5083 a couple years ago. I did his chores for a couple weeks and was very impressed. Cab, air, wipers front and back, joy stick self leveling loader, Sirius radio and four wheel drive. I told him that was a little girl tractor, no sweat, no strain, no dust.....

I spent a big part of my life as a heavy equipment operator. Some folks say there's a better tractor than a John Deere... but they lie about other things too. I have 2 JD's & an old Ford (kinda wish it was 3 JD's).

I got it with several attachments a Curtis heated cab ,
Frontier SB 1154 54"rear snow blower with hydro. chute., JD 270b backhoe ,JD quick detach front loader, JD 60"quick detach snow plow with hydro. angle, Frontier 60" snow pusher with back blade,
pallet forks and I just added a Titan 60" york rake with the wheel kit. i also have a JD 155d with a 48" mower deck.

That Deere green sure is pretty, but they also have heavy equipment painted other colors. We did a special project for the Air Force that modified the 690D excavator, and added remote controls to it for bomb clearance and runway repair.

My hands were shaking when I handed the check to the dealer...but I soon got over the shakes when I started using it. The 8N has been sent out for some well deserved light duty, my son took it to pull the firewood trailer from the stack to the cellar door in the winter.
