John Hurst - J (Rb) & K (Sq) Checkered Grips

John Hurst - J (Rb) & K (Sq) Checkered Grips

I have no idea who made these grips but they are on an early 4 digit python with a notched grip frame. The gun according to the seller was that of his dad who was LASD back in the early days. There are no identifying marks on the back. The gun has been significantly modified from a 6 inch barrel to a 4 inch with a Trooper sight added. The back strap has been shaved and checkered crudely to give a more acute curve to the grip frame. You can see how acute the curve is in the last picture with a panel of gen II python grips on it for comparison. I am trying to learn more from the seller about his father to further the provenance.

Since this is an older thread don’t think I will get a lot of feedback. Was watching a Ken Hackathon/
Bill Wilson episode about revolvers and Hackathorn showed Wilson a 15-6 with Hurst grips and Wilson was taken with them. Hackathorn remarked Bill you should see if your buddy at Vz grip can reproduce these! Would anyone know if this is going

Hurst Grips

Wish I could help with VZ information, but I am of no help there. I did see the clip on gun guys where it is mentioned, it could be possible they are doing some custom Hurst like grips

Anyhow, I really enjoy the one set of Hurst grips I have. Wish I could get my hands on many more

Thought I would share… 15-4 PPC fun gun to take to the range
