Jack posted a S&W Model 60 and another gun a while back. I PM'd him an offer that night on the 60. The next morning I get a message that he had decided not to sell. He wants to pass to his grandson. Ok. End of story. All good because no one made a deal.... but no.
A couple days ago he messaged ME saying he had vet bills and decided to sell. I agreed to his price and he sent me all the info for him and the FFL. I texted him at his provided number that I had emailed him my FFL's info. He said he forwarded it his FFL. I contacted my FFL to let him know it would be coming. This was Thursday night. I told Jack payment (bank check) would go out by Monday at worst. I get a check Friday morning with plans to mail it later that day. Then all of a sudden later Friday morning, I get a message saying he is not selling because as a sheer coincidence his boss decided to buy some fixer upper truck he had on Friday morning. I respond that we have a deal and I already got a check. I ask if he does not value a deal and his word because I am irked. I get a sorry and a lame offer to cover my costs getting the check and time IF I send him my address. His big excuse AGAIN is that he really wants to pass this to his grandson. Like that excuses him somehow. I send him a final message saying trust and backing your word is how the classifieds on every forum I am on works, but get no reply.
So now I have the hassle of canceling the bank check.
