My new JPSK made by Ontario arrived yesterday.
After a liberal coat of neatsfoot oil on the sheath and a bit on the leather handle, it sat overnight. Today after reading up and looking at Youtube instructions I decided to work on the leather handle. I first sanded a bit with 120 grit paper and it didnt seem to help so I went ahead and applied a generous coat of Kiwi shoe polish in the Cordoba color. Let it sit a bit then shoe brushed it to a shine and finished with a quick shine rag action. I thought it came out good, a lot better than I thought it would.
My next project for it is to buy a new wet stone and sharpen then hone the blade to a fine edge as I watched it done on Youtube with a not expensive stone from a big box store. It has a 3 stone configuration that sits in a cradle and you place the setup in the position you want to use.
Here is a picture of the knife along with my Nam bring back.
The handle was originally very light leather look.
