Junk e-mail question

Lately,I've been getting e-mails which are being quaranteened in my spam box. Whereas most of the stuff is from Mr.Mjumba wanting me to respond to him concerning vast quantities of money,this new stuff has [no sender] and [no subject]. What's up with that?

One of those things that the Internet had brought. LOTS of good, but some bad.

Spam email...

...is one of those things which vex almost all users. I have more than two email accounts, one which I keep "private", the second is one which I use when I'm using e-commerce. The second is the font from which all my spam arises.

Email addresses get, for lack of a better term, "stale" after awhile. They manage to get out to the spammers eventually. Other times spammers use a "shotgun" list which has permutations of guessed email addresses. They send mass emails out, and the ones which don't get bounced are added to their broadcast listings. Those listings are sold, or otherwise passed around. Eventually all email addresses get spammed. It's a fact of the world wide web.

Some of the spams are humorous, and are fun to read. The ones from Nigeria are especially funny. It's also fun to spar with the senders. Keep them on the hook, wasting their time.

My hotmail account is the worst! It's so bad I don't even use it anymore. I get spam all day long and even send some out. How is it possible for me to unknowingly send spam and how can I stop it? I've had friends email me and ask why I'm sending links for viagra and bra's. What'sup with that!?

I keep getting emails from FBI, telling me if I don't open the email and respond that I am going to jail. I think the FBI probably knows where I live and would have already thrown me in the slammer if it was really them on the other end of the email.

The are very "Official" looking. I called UPS and FEd EX and they said nothing they can do. I told them they were using their logo.

My e mail has a blocking feature so I can block a whole domain with a "wild card" like *@junk.com

You can also get official looking ones from the IRS. I got one addressed to "Dear Taxpayer". My name, address and SSN were nowhere in it. It said due to "fiscal activity" I was due an additional refund, and to click on something in the body of the message. I was born at night, but it wasn't last night. I thought it was interesting, but I wondered how many people fell for it.
One thing I have always wondered though that Dennis mentioned, is can it cause a problem if you mess with them? I always want to contact the sender and pretend like I'm all excited about their offer. I know if you call the phone numbers provided they can sometimes be ones that charge a VERY high rate, and that is sometimes their intention, but what harm could they do me if I play along?
Guess I'm just a troublemaker.

I don't know about the no sender/subject... I never see junk/spam. I have AOL, Gmail and Comcast e-mail accounts funneled through Apple Mail. It catches and deletes all the garbage so I never see it. I'll take the risk that I might miss something important from Mr Mjumba and his pals...

Believe me, some of this stuff is really malicious. I got an e mail about 2 mos ago I didn't recognize. It was innocuous enough and I opened it. upon opening, it started exploding a file which I didn't call for or recognize. I have 2 pc's that pretty much mirror each other. Neither one is on the internet or network, at the same time. To make a blah, blah, story short, I found that No 1 pc was infected with a key tracker and I had to restore it.

Just this month I started getting spam written in oriental ideograms. Kind of a waste of time to send to me, as I can't read or write Japanese or Chinese. Not really tempted to open the enclosures, either. I just mark them for the spam sifter and delete them.
