Just bought a 629 Classic 5" from Buds. What dash is it?

If it's brand new then should be a dash 6. You got you a great shooter.

Thanks for the info. I shot it today and here's my target with six rounds at seven yards. I was a little shaky today but at least all six rounds stayed in the center.

I just bought a 6-29 with a 3 inch barrel TALO thru gunbroker. Came with beautiful wood grips but I think they may be painful to shoot-any thoughts or experience?

I've put the X500 recoil-absorbing grips on all my L-Frame and N-Frame revolvers (including my 5" 629 Classic). They used to only be available from S&W, but I've heard that you can now get them directly from Hogue. I recommend them.

Like with any short barreled firearm, choice of ammo makes a world of difference. I have a 3" 629-5 that is awesome. Originally had VZ grips, which are quality grips and good looking too. Had a tendency to chew up my thumb on the cylinder release so went with an aftermarket grip with a different profile that wasn't a full size grip but not as small as the VZ either. That solved my issue and I went with a similar grip on my 686 3" as well.
