Just bought a sigma 40

I had numerous people tell me not to buy one. But I'm hardheaded and did anyway. I'm glad I did.

I love my sigma 40.

It's light, feels great in the had, looks great, and shoots great.

I didn't research the gun until after I bought it. I got nervous with all the negative stuff on google until I realized from further reading that only the initial models were crap.

I shot my cousin's sigma9 fairly extensively and he never had any problems after he got past 250 rounds or so. Lady at the gun shop said the break in period on these was around 250.

I personally think it was a the monarch ammo he was shooting. I only shoot the cheap federal FMJs and winchester wb fmjs in mine and I did not have a single problem the first day shooting it. I put around 100 rounds through it before the noseeums starting attacking in swarms. His 9 is a VE just like mine.

The only trouble I had with mine was some too light reloads that I made up (being conservative the first time with 9mm). I suspect any gun would have malfunctioned with them. With factory ammo, or my next batch of reloads, it's worked just fine.

I haven't had any problems with factory ammo as long as I stay with federal, winchester, remington, hornady, cci, ect.

I will not shoot wolf or blazer. My brother reloads for my rifles and my .357mag and he recommends strongly against wolf.

Not to mention I have read that with wolf (hi point voids warranty if you use wolf) that in a single box you can go from rounds that are barely more than just a primer and a dash of powder to +P and +P++++ equivalent rounds. Just way to many people at the range that I've talked to having problems with wolf from feeding and stovepiping as well.

I have some winchester personal defense rounds that I keep in it in my vehicle.

It loves these dudes.

The only Wolf ammo I've ever shot was in com-bloc guns, SKS, Makarov's, CZ-82's and such. Worked fine in them. I seldom see it around here for non com-bloc cartridges so I've never tried it in anything else.

I usually shoot American Eagle and it works fine in everything. WWB, and Rem-UMC, and Blazer Brass have all worked well for me too.

I have used the newer blazer brass ammo in .40 with absolutley no problems in 3 of my .40 cals.i even fired a few hundred rounds of the aluminum cased blazer in a 10mm with very good results.
i have also had good luck with any federal branded ammo like american eagle or the regular federal that wally world here sells for $14 a box for .40 and $9.50 for 9mm.
the only time i had ever used wolf was in a ruger p-89 that would probably have fired a rock if i could have gotten it in the magazine! the wolf worked good and i didn't notice any difference from round to round.i have heard that the metal case can be hard on extractors though.

I don't know about the .40, but my 9VE will eat anything including Wolf.

so far I've put Speer, Blazer, Fiocchi, and Remington thru my 40VE. 155gr, 165gr, 170gr, and 180gr. Only problem I had was with 155s when the gun was new and not really broken in. Haven't tried the light rounds again, I like the 180s for most shooting.

It used to be that Blazer aluminum ammo failed in any of my handguns. Blazer Brass worked perfectly in the same guns. My 40VE ate 150 Blazer aluminum the other day without any problems at all. Strange that the Sigma is the only gun I own that will take the aluminum stuff. It is also the only 40S&W gun that I have, so maybe that ammo is different. I don't know. I still will not use the aluminum cased stuff in anything else. As far as the brass ammo goes, I can't tell the difference between the Blazer Brass and the Federal burgundy box stuff from wally world. It has the same packaging and everything. I thought that CCI and Federal are one in the same company and read that these two are the same ammo.
Anyway, my 40VE is up to 1300 failure free rounds as of yesterday You are going to love your new gun!

I have never tried Wolf but I have put a bunch of Monarch steel through my SW9VE. It fed, fired, and extracted fine. If you think about it the extractor and ejector are VERY similar to the Glock design and it was designed to work with Euro speck ammo. I would be concerned about steel or aluminum case ammo in a blow-back design but not with a locked breech.

Just bought one today myself. I don't see where all the complaints and bad mouthing are coming from for this weapon on many sites. The trigger seems fine to me and can't wait to get it on the range this weekend. I am very satisfied to this point.

Wife's new Sigma

After searching for a while finally bought the wife a Sigma. heard all the horror stories about the weapon and figured most were b.s..
Anyway brought the weapon home yesterday afternoon late. Went out into the desert this morning to fire off a few rounds. Took along 5 empty (yes empty) bud light cans and a gallon of water to fill the cans. Set them out from 7 yards to about 15. Figured they would last awhile as she had never fired this weapon before. Well 5 cans, 5 shots, 5 dead bud light cans. I ask her what she thought and she said "Well triggers a little heavy" and smiled. We only put two magazines through it, then I shot the dead cans some more with my M28-2

I have fed everything i could grab through my 40ve..and it just spits it out...seems to prefer 180grn anything.guess you cant ask for more than that..

Just got back from the range and I am very pleased with the 40VE. Used Federal .40 S&W 180 gr FMJ. Put 100rds through it after a thorough cleaning and lube. Had 0 FTF or FTE. Had 1 shot low and left and 2 low middle. Other than that 90% of shots POI was true to POA with the exception of several where I see I was thumbing or heeling at times. Can't wait to get back out and practice some more.

I got my sigma before I knew what they were. I found it in the Radio Want Adds. I maily got it because I didnt have a 40 cal (as good a reason as any).

Anyway the only thing I've found wrong with mine is you need a spotter to tell you where you brass went, that sucker can really throw brass.
