Hi
I just completed my 27 nickel collection. I have had all the blued ones for some years. But the one that I did not have was the 8 3/8 Nickel in 5 screw, I was able to add it to my collection at Tulsa this month. It is a Pre model 27 5 screw with the
box in 98% all original condition. See the picture below of the 6 guns in all barrel lengths.
The Pre models are the 8 3/8, 3 1/2, and the 5.
The 4 screw Models are the 6, and 6 1/2.
and the 4 inch is a 27-2 I don't think they made any 4 inch Nickel in 4 screw or 5 screw.
Enjoy the pictures

I have a 4" in Nickel, and it is as beautiful as yours is :-)

You have a real, real nice collection here.

If you are ever looking to adopt a son, let me know.

These are harder to fine lately. I would like to have all the calibers in 6"/6 1/2" barrels in the N frames in nickel. I didn't think having every barrel length in nickel too. My bucket list is growing.

That's,

3 1/2" barrel
4" barrel
5" barrel
6" barrel
6 1/2" barrel
8 3/8" barrel

Times each caliber @ $1,000 average for each gun. It's like $30k+

That's 22lr, 38 special, 357mag, 41mag, 44mag, 45 long colt.

So you have all the common barrel lengths in nickel, but the guns are not all from the same era?

Beautiful collection Jim. I am trying to find Pre-27s in all the lengths that shipped in '52. I had a 3 1/2", and just found a 6". So that leaves the 5, 6 1/2 and 8 3/8. I won't bother looking for nickel guns, I know where they all are. Lee

Nice Catch Dad

Nice try Tom, That's not the first offer to adopt he's had. But we've had better.

Years ago at a show in Denver, a guy asked Dad if he had any sons. Dad said yes and asked why? The guy said if one of us was single he would like to get his daughter married into our family. Both of us were married at the time and we laughed it off.

But if Dad does adopt you just keep in mind that me and my brother each have a son so that would put you fifth in line.

Excellent collection Jim, congrats on finally finding all the nickel 27's you were looking for. I know you have an extensive collection of other models as well, so what is at the top of your 'Most Wanted' list now?

Hi
The gun I would like to find is a 1891 single shot that traces back to Dr. I. R. Calkins I have his 1st Model Triple lock from 1906 but he shot a lot of records with a 1891 Single shot. See picture below of him with a single shot.

Here is one of his Targets and the group he shot with.

Here is a close up of Calkins with a 1891 target, It has a barrel weight on the barrel.

Jim,

That's a wonderful acquisition right thar! Congratulations.

I was pleased to visit with you for just a moment at Tulsa on Friday.

Best Regards,
Dave

I have always enjoyed your posts SP......

But sometimes you really amaze me.....

Put a smiley at the end and you may find a friendlier world...

Really?
You were expecting a positive reply? Some people aren't happy no matter what. If it isn't mine, I'll beat it down with a negative comment.

"To the victor, goes the spoils." The many hours of research, travel and expense, never mind the search itself have paid off.
You have a fabulous collection. Congratulations, and thanks for letting us see it.

SP Comment

While I will agree that the barrel lengths shown are all fairly common, I know from personal experience as a long time 6 1/2" N frame collector that finding a nickel .357 in that length in any configuration is extremely difficult. Congrats on completing the set Gpaw.

Awesome collection. You've got a couple of bucks tied up in that. :)

The only "set" that I have is one of each barrel length of 24-3s. I can manage that one because there are only three of them and they are not ungodly expensive. LOL.

Well - you guys sound like my kind of family, and I'd bring some nice Iron to the table as well.

Hopefully all you guys are able to get together and enjoy these fine pieces regularly.
