well i got my 3913 hogue grips yesterday and they look great (thanks Ken). i chose coco bolo with the old style half checkering pattern. It took a good amount of dremel surgery to get these on perfectly but they finaly fit. The grip panels were fine, but the plastic mainspring retaining piece was way over sized and i had to fill it down allot. after all i said and done i think they look great.

They look fantastic. Maybe I'll get a set for my 3913. Right now it wears Hogue rubber. Did you have rubber on before and if so, how do the wood grips compare in thickness to the rubber?

Those are very fine looking grips. However, take a caliper and measure the thickness (width) of the full grip and I bet that it is as thick or thicker than the double stack autos with the standard factory grips. Is this gun going to be used for concealed carry?

I much prefer the half-checkered style. How did you get those - just call and request them like that?

Yep just ask for the old style checkering. The grips are 6mm thicker than the factory ones

Very nice! I may need to find another 3913 to put Hogue wood grips on, and add the new followers and springs to make the mags 9 rounders.

Sort of a 3913+

Hard pistol to improve upon. Regards 18DAI.

I have the twin to yours. They must have been separated at birth.

Beautiful grips dustin78. Are these wood grips the same thickness as the Hogue rubber grips, or thinner? With the checkering, are they as sure-grip as the rubbers? Thanks to anyone who can answer.

I measured the above grips using my el cheapo Harbor Freight digital calipers, at a point about halfway up from the base. This would be equal to the logo area of the Hogue rubber grips. Then, I installed a set of rubber Hogues on the 3914 and measured them. Here's the result:

3913 (Coco Bolo Checkered Hogue) - 1.20"

3914 (Pau Ferro Smooth Hogue) - 1.24"

3914 (Rubber Hogue) - 1.16"

Thanks Babalooie, thats more accurate than one could ask for. Using my scientific measuring device - eye-balling a metal ruler, it looks like the factory plastic grips are 1.00"?
Won't give up my rubber Hogues, although those Coco Bolo's sure make for a dang fine looking 3913!
