Well I took receipt of the ss plug for my PC 627 yesterday. I got home and immediately went to work installing it. It was my first time taking apart a revolver and it went really well. I did launch one spring but it conveniently landed ontop of a trash bag and stayed put. LOL

Anyhow, the internal lock came out and the brushed ss plug dropped right in without a hitch once I figured out how to exactly remove the lock itself. (The video he provides in his thread takes it only as far as to remove the leaf that locks the gun, but not the actual circular locking device.) After depressing the spring and catch, the cylindrical lock can be pushed out towards the inside of the gun along with said spring and catch part. Anyhow, it went back together nicely and I like the results. I recommend the plug for anyone wanting to do away with the black hole. ;)

I've installed 4 plugs in my guns.

I will not own a politically correct S&W unless it has the plug.

Whenever I see the plug it reminds me that gun just ain't the same ole S&W. Sadly, those days (and guns) are gone.

Isn't it a shame we have to spend time and money to correct a brand-new product?

Has anyone doing this modification to their gun then had issues with getting warranty work from S&W? I know some companies we deal with where I work have a policy of voiding the warranty as soon as you do any work to their product.

I was wondering the same, however would have no problem putting in the old lock if it needed a trip back for some other reason. reinstall is not hard.

I was unable to accept the whole internal lock concept until I read this thread. Thanks to all for the info provided.
