After giving it some thought I decided to order a no lock 442, I called Ken at Shooter's so he could find me one. Tomorrow I will go out and do the paperwork and give him the money.

I was wonder if they had the same grip frame as the 640 I do not like the grips I saw in the picture so I plan on ordering some magnas probably in Stag from Executioner.

Now I have to make up my mind on what holster.

As far as I know, all the new J frames are coming with the fishscale grips. I can highly recommend Patrick's grips. Have many pairs.

You're going to love that 442.

There was a post count apocalypse about a month ago. Mine dropped like my 401K.

Good choice on both. Post a picture when you have both so the drooling can begin.

Just bought a no lock 442 a few months ago. Took off the rubber and put on a set of old diamond center service grips on it. It shoots real well and to point of aim with 158 LSWC's. Recoil was not bad for a lightweight, Im used to the steel frame J's. I think your gonna like the little beast!

I recently purchased the S&W 442 (NO LOCK) last June.

I wouldn't own a S&W with a lock. So when I discovered I could get this wonderful little gun without one I considered it an investment in the future. I'm from Illinois so CCW is legally out of the question. But.... I have confidence that one day I will carry this little charm somewhere legally. And when that day comes, I shall be ready.

Hey there, Stan,

I recently purchased a new, no lock, 442 from Firehouse. Excellent little carry piece and an even better seller. My J Frame carry guns (in the past) have been model(s) 36, 60 & 360pd. So far, the 442 is proving to be my favorite.

Finding a holster that I'm happy with is proving to be a bit of a challenge, however.

I just found one today and ordered it. Should be in for pickup on Monday. It was a lot of work to find it but I got lucky.

I think you'll like your "no lock" 442. I bought mine about 9 months ago, and it's my constant companion. I use Barami "hip grip" stocks, so I don't need a holster. The grip adapter allows me to use the hip grips and have a little more to hang onto. With no lock, I'm doubly sure it will go bang when I need it. Mine's had an action job by Nelson Ford of Phoenix, and is very, very smooth; shoots tight groups at seven yards. Recoil is brutal with +P loads, but not unmanageable. A lot of power in a very small and concealable package. I wouldn't have a semiauto for self-defense on the streets (you don't have to pick up the brass), and this little jewel suits me to a "T".
