Just ordered a M627 2.5 " Performance Center Snub.Would appreciate any feedback or reviews on it. It is brand new and I put it on layaway at Bud's. It just got on the CA list a couple weeks ago, and I thought I would make the move! What do you guys think? Did I do ok?
Thanks,

If it were me, I think I would have asked for "feedback" and "reviews" BEFORE ordering it. That said, I think it will be fine for your intended use.

Hey 460V,Congrats on your new baby,Iam thinking about getting one of those myself,I wonder if the barrel can be changed out to a longer one if i ever get tired of the little snub one?But I do like a short barrel for small conceal carry...Good luck!

Home protection, nightstand drawer. Occasional range use to keep up on practice and feel.

I am a confirmed snubby loving guy, but for bedside table, I would probably have gone for a 4" barrel. Some would say short barrels are less susceptible to takeover in a scuffle, me, I am an old guy, I would prefer to avoid the hand to hand scenario. However, no big deal. I do like that you picked a stainless steel model with some heft to it, no Scandium or titanium. The only serious advice I would give, load it with .38 specials, not .357 magnums. There are plenty of threads on the forum about the blinding flash and deafening (literally) noise of a magnum fired from a snub. And there is test information available out there about the relative flash of different brands/types of factory ammo, there is a wide range of difference. You aren't giving up all that much stopping power with a .38, especially a +P load. I have read good things about using wadcutters, for example. Just my opinion. And don't believe that you are necessarily giving up any real accuracy at the range, snubs can be very accurate, you just have to spend some time and give it some work. I have successfully used a J frame snub at 25 yards in a falling plates match. With eight rounds, it should be a blast in a steel challenge match.
Pic of my 640 attached, couldn't resist, be sure to put up pics of yours when you get your hands on it.
Have fun!
