Just ordered my first 9mm M&P Compact Will it take all brands ammo you throw at it?

My H&K .40 is picky it only likes brass cased ammo. Will the 9mm S&W take all brands of ammo? Steel cased Russian and Aluminum cased Blazer? I have some brass stuff also, as I have an older Ruger P85 9mm that takes it all. Thanks

I don't use steel cased ammo in my guns but my M&P 9mm full sized pistol has never had any sort of stoppage with any ammo I have fed it, except when the magazine is empty. It has been 100% reliable and the ergonomic grip fits my hand much better than any Glock does and I am able to shoot more accurately and faster because of the fit. As plastic pistols go, I have found it to be as good as any I have had including Glocks and H&K pistols.

I don't use steel or aluminum cased ammo but my M&P9PRO functions flawlessly with all the brass cased ammo i have fed it including a wide variety of handloads.

I bought my wife a M&P 9MMC last year, I owuld estimate that we have put over 2500 rounds of all manufacture of ammo through it, WolF, Federal, Remington, Speer Gold Dot and WW white box from WalMart 1 failure to feed. I did not clean gun until at least 1800 rounds through it.

I have had the same experience with my MP9c. It eats anything you feed it without complaint, but I have got to ask the question...

"Why on earth would you run 1800 rounds through a gun without cleaning it???" Just because you "can" do something doesn't necessarily mean it is a good idea. I am not a clean freak by any means (as my bride will attest), but I clean every gun I own, every time I shoot it. I hope to hear back from you soon as this one might just keep me awake tonight. (o;

If you do not push a new gun to the limit how do you know if you can trust it? The gun was not being used as a personal defense weapon so we kept shooting it until I cleaned it. At the time I purchased it the 9MMC was new so decided to test it and was very pleased with the results.

Toyman, we certainly agree on the MP9c. Great gun but, (and no offense intended), I don't see the point of abusing a new gun by running nearly 2k rounds through it before cleaning. It sounds like running a new truck 15K miles before changing the oil. Like a new trucks oil changes the first couple cleanings are critical, or so I was taught.

Every gun I own is completely reliable in no small part because I keep them spotlessly clean and lubricated. Having seen what the patches come out looking like after 200-300 rounds, 1800 gives me the willies. Just as a matter of curiosity did you clean the MP before firing the first time?

The M&P 9c should be GTG with any ammo you choose. I don't mind the aluminum cased Blazer at all but I refuse to shoot the steel cased Wolf stuff in my handguns. YMMV

I have put whatever ammo has been available through my 9c with no problems. At this time I can get plenty of Winchester WB bulk at a good price and it works fine. Enjoy a great pistol!

Mine (3K) has as yet to choke on anything?
W W/B FMJ, 147 FMJ & HP, Speer G/D 124's, home rolled 125 LRN, even Wolf Polymer coated. And in order to make it even harder, I mixed the rounds in many of the magazines. Cleaning done after a typical outing of 150-200 rounds.

I don't see how not cleaning it abused or damaged the gun in any significant way.

I don't keep my fighting guns spotless. I keep them cleaned, and I believe more importantly lubed.

I can see a definite benefit to running your fighting guns in a variety of extreme conditions to judge their reliability.

I have ran a bunch of low priced ammo through my MP9C including 200 rounds of steel cased Wolf ammo. No problems. I do clean and oil it after each trip to the range.
