Ok guys, somebody stop me. Have now got 4 3000s... 2 identical 12 ga 3" hunting models (owned once since new in '84) with screw in chokes (one gun is mint), a 12 ga 3" police and a 20ga hunting model with screw-in chokes.

And today I got lucky and picked up a beautiful 12 ga 1000 2-3/4" fixed modified barrel. Cannot wait to shoot this baby.

Does anyone have a line on a 1000 barrel that accepts screw-in chokes? :o

I have a 20 ga mint (in original box) 3000 barrel with one screw in choke I don't need! Thanks. 71Rcode @ Verizon.net in Texas.

Last I looked, Kittery Trading Post in Maine had a model 1000 barrel or two in their used gun stock.

Good luck.

Also, let's see some pics!

Thanks, Doc. Just checked it out -- no go. I appreciate the lead, though!

Thanks, BC. I did learn a couple days ago that the barrels are definitely different between the 3000 and 1000 -- so they won't interchange. Two of my 3000s have 3" 28 multichoke barrels.

my 1000p has a barrel that is stamped the exact same as the one in the above link. except it is full choke instead of multi choke. the body of the gun its self is stamped 1000p the barrel is stamped 3000.

I never tried switching barrels from one of my 3000s to the 1000 to see if it would fit. The barrels are definitely different. Notice the thickness of where it fits around the magazine tube on the 1000

The top barrel in the photo is for a model 1000 autoloader, the bottom barrel is for a model 3000 pump. I believe you own a model 1000 pump. If you own a 1000 pump model, it is identical to a 3000 in all respects. It can get confusing since S&W sold pump actions marked 3000 and 1000. Mossberg also sold the 1000 pump model. To confuse things more, a 1000 autoloader barrel will fit a 3000 or 1000P model, there are enough threads on the magazine tube to let the end cap hold things together. The gas ports of the autloader barrel will become plugged with carbon if used on a pump action. A model 1000 pump action barrel is the same as a 3000 barrel.

Yes. My 1000 is an autoloader (pictured). Are you saying the 3000 pump barrels will work on the 1000 autoloaders OR the 1000 autoloading barrels will work on the 3000s? Thanks man!

The autoloader barrel can be used on the pump action. I have not tried the pump barrel on the autoloader. The magazine collar of the pump barrel is too narrow to allow the end cap of the autoloader to hold it in the breech, I believe. If it would fit, lack of gas ports would make the auto loader function inoperative. I was mistaken in thinking you were looking for a pump type barrel. You will need a model 1000 autoloader barrel.

Cool. Thanks, Dennis! So I'm on the hunt for a multi-choke 1000 auto barrel. Thanks everyone!
