Recently picked up two S&W revolvers that were put up on consignment at my gun shop. The first is a beautiful L-frame 686 with a 6” barrel. It looked to have very little use and proved very accurate when I got it out to the range.

The second, I just aquired. It’s a 1990-vintage Model 10-10 4” heavy barrel. A plain-Jane K-frame to be sure. But it came with an 8 1/2 pound DA trigger pull and a 3 pound SA trigger. Pretty impressive I thought.

Just wanted to show them off a bit.

Nice, thanks for sharing the photo's.. I have a 1966 M-10-5, nice smooth trigger, that trigger pull weight might be pretty common on the model 10's, mine has a 8lb DA.. 2-1/4lb SA..

Very nice guns and congratulations on the purchase. That Model 686 looks like high polished stainless. I like that Model 10.

Here’s my Model 686- no dash from June 1984. Mine has never been back to S&W for the firing pin modification that they do on the recall. It’s not a problem.

I have three 10-5’s in the 1968-69 range. 4”, 5” and a 6”. Just a sucker for S&W revolvers.

Good catch. Somebody at some point did polish the 686. They also jeweled the hammer and trigger. They also did a little action work. DA pull at 8 3/4 pounds and the SA breaks at an even 3 pounds.

I have a Model 10-10 as well and it's a great shooter, minus the occasional light primer strike. Great finds!
