That was a cop bar, and at least one of the onlookers was a cop! Had another patron tried interfear what do you think the cop onlooker would have done?
Many years ago I was in a bar talking to a woman next to me. She was on my right, and a drunk big construction type on my left. He leaned across me asking her for a dance. She politely refused. He didnt quit but asked her several more times slobbering on me as he bugged her. Finaly I said, I dont know if you are bothering her, but ya are me! With that he uncorked one on me. By reaction, I decked him. At the same time the bartender who was a friend of mine vaulted the bar that I would have needed a step ladder to get on, got behind me and put his arms around me. The guy was getting to his feet and would have a perfect shot at me with my arms pinned! Fortunatly, he got up, appologised and bought drinks!
My old chief was also a friend and a retired chicago cop. Used to tell me some storys. One was once he got a call where old well known wrestler "Yukon Eric" was in a bar throwing people around as the crowd had jumped him when he openly tried a sex act with a unwilling woman. A bunch of cops finaly were getting thrown around my boss amoung them! It finaly ended when my chief got ahold of Erick`s cajone`s and squeezed briskley, with enthusasim!

There's nothing but losers in those places so why go there? The only thing that can happen, and it's not good, is that you'll soon be at their level if you stay long enough!

About 1975, my brother flew up the stairs of a neighboring tenement after hearing a woman scream for help. Apparently, this dick weed decided to bat his wife/girlfriend around after having a bad day. Once on the 2nd floor landing, my brother could see the guy slapping her about as he held her by the hair through the screen door. My brother pulled the screen door open and proceeded to beat the gentleman to a pulp with his legendary overhand right. The night ended with both of them taking a ride downtown. If I recall, he ended up with charges for battery. Don't know what the perp got, but I never saw him in the neighborhood again.

My wife has a technique that has worked so far for those kind of cases.
Specifically where a man has beaten up another man in defense of a woman.
She hires a specific attorney, a retired Marine. This attorney has, so far, always been able to persuade the jury that the man needed a beating.
Of course, this is in Fort Worth, which also probably helps.
Don't plan on having her help you out, though, as she is busy full time with consumer bankruptcies.
I can try to find the name of the Marine, though.

Sometime back I read an article about a good Samaritan coming to the aid of some woman that was getting beat up by her boy friend and all that did was get the good Samaritan beat up by both the boy friend and the woman that was getting beat up. They both turned on him. Sometimes it just pays to stay out of other peoples business.

Same thing just happened two weeks ago with a friend...
He came out of the WalMart, and saw some guy wailing on a woman, banging her head on a car hood.
He went behind the guy, and got his arms, pulling him off the woman.
LEOs rolled up right after and put them both in cuffs.
Woman saying it was all my friends fault, They all had to appear before a magistrate.
By the time it was sorted out, he lost the day, and was ordered to report for an "Anger Management" class....
Really makes you wonder what is still right about this system......
