One of the things that prompted me to buy an M&P 9 was the free mags. I sent in the rebate form on Dec 15. Today the mail lady dropped off my two 10 rounders (this is Commiefornia after all). That's about 12 weeks if anyone is counting. The 10th round is a real b**** to load (just like my Hi-Power 10 rounders) so they're stuffed with 9 rounds right now and lying in the gunsafe.

Interestingly enough, the package started out FedEx and finished the last leg USPS. I wonder if the mags took longer 'cuz they're 10 rounders? Anyway,if you are still waiting for your mags I suppose there is still hope.

Gee Whiz you bought a weapon because you saved money for magazines. Also you feel jaded in took a few weeks to get 2 Free magazines that would of cost you $70.00. The reason you should acquire a weapon is it fits you hand, because it reliable, has good warranty, fit your need for sport and or personal protection.

Sarcasm duly noted. I said ONE of the reasons was the free mags. I'd had my eye on the M&P for awhile for all the reasons you mentioned. I mentioned the time span for informational purposes. Sorry you apparently misinterpreted my post.

Curt, I read your post as it was written. I saw no whining or indication you are "jaded." I'm glad Rowlette is here to make sure we all hold to proper gun buying decisions (sarcasim intended.)

Curt,
Congratulations on your new gun. Imagine those of us who can't even buy a qualifying gun (none of the promotional SKU's are allowed to be sold in CA) and still stick with the decision to buy a Shield. As I recall, the Free bullets I got with my Hornady LnL AP took 4 months to arrive. I was still happy when I got them. As for the stiff spring, cycling the springs loosen them, not storing them compressed. I just got replacement springs for my mags that had ~10,000 cycles through them in about 3.5 years and they look about one to two coils shorter than the new ones.

Were they black? :D

Seriously though why would you buy a full size 9mm when you are limited to only 10 rounds? I prefer 9mm because I can hold 17-20 JHP in a full size pistol which is about equal to .45 ACP FMJ. If I was limited to 10 rounds I would definitely go with a .45 ACP full size or a sub-compact 9mm.

Thanx threepdr. External validation is always nice. Rsrocket1, I will be cycling the mags soon as I can make it out to YSA. I bought the pistol with the single shot conversion before that was a no-no. ATF, I bought the 9mil cuz I already had the dies and I'd thought about the 45 but I didn't want to get into reloading another caliber and there were no 45s to try on for size. And maybe one of these days I'll get a place in a more gun friendly environment. Thanks to all for your thoughtful replies.

Sorry Curt, I was in FL answering you with my mobile device and didn't see you were also in the Sac area. It frosts me when I go to a Walmart out in "free" states and see a display case full of guns or out to a gun store and see display cases full of handguns at reasonable prices that we can't buy because politicians want to take away our 2A rights under the disguise of "safety".

Here's a picture of what a 1k+ cycle spring (center) looks like compared to brand new springs.
