Hey, I have been messing with my 627 ALLOT lately, just wanted to share my experiences.

I was not too happy about the weight of the trigger pull so I ordered the Wilson combat spring set.
I put in the Wilson main spring and the 12 pound rebound slide spring. With the 12 pound rebound spring it barley moved the trigger forward and my finger was cramping up after 10 or so shots. I had to put in a 14 pound return spring for a satisfactory pull.

After taking they gun completely apart for the 4th time or so I took out the rebound slide and polished that ******* with some really fine stones, I also looked at the frame where it was rubbing and took off the sharp corners.
The gun cycled in DA noticeably smoother, on a whim I put the 12 pound spring back in. The trigger bounced back just fine, barely any difference between the 12 pound and the 14 pound return force. Felt really nice and the trigger pull felt better with the polished rebound slide and even better with the 12 pound spring.

I had some stacking grittiness by the end of the DA pull, but it went away with me polishing the rebound slide and large amount of dry firing.

Just feeling with my finger the inside of the frame where the rebound slide moves is really rough the pins on which the hammer and the trigger pivot are also kinda rough. Should I lightly polish those areas? Is it worth it?

Oh I looked at the hammer and trigger sear/contact surface areas under a digital microscope. They are very smooth and uniform I will do more harm than good stoning those.

Just thought I might share my experience.
Sorry if this is old and know stuff, revolvers are very new to me.
Almost forgot to add I also installed Apex ignition kit.

It sounds like you have the idea. Take the thing apart. Smooth the mating surfaces, being careful to minimize metal removal, polish up things that look like they could benefit from it, play with springs, grease it up and go for it. Works wonders.
