...I'm out, yada yada yada.
I was at my LGS today, intent on just browsing, and checking out a Model 66 (no dash), 4" barrel, with Pach's on it. I'd already decided, that while I wanted a shooter grade K frame, this Model 66 just had too many scratches, and I didn't want another project revolver.
About the time I'm ready to move away from the counter, the gunsmith came out, and gave my pusher a revolver. Since I didn't want the Model 66, would I be interested in another K frame.
He shows me this Model 19-4. It's wearing Hogues (OK by me for a shooter), and it's been Magnaported. Imagine, a 4" .357 magnum being Magnaported.
Well, the action was extremely smooth, especially in double action. The finish had no major mars or scratches (in fact, very clean). He quoted me an "out the door" price, and like the proverbial guppy, I bit. Wrote a check, and I'm out the door with this jewel (shade over $400).
I took it to the club, and then out to the 25-yard range. I tried some +P 158gr LSWCHP, some 150gr .38 SWC, and some Speer 158gr .357 HP's.
Except for shooting a bit low at 7 yards, this revolver grouped extremely well, holding about 4 inches with 6 rounds of .357 magnum. The Magnaporting is a bit distracting under the shelter, but with no cover, its hardly noticeable.
For its picture, I put on a set of Goncalo Alves. I know it'll never be a collector gun, but it's sure fun to shoot!
