The Chicago Police Board has ordered the firing of an officer caught on an infamous videotape throwing a female bartender to the floor and repeatedly punching and kicking her.

In a unanimous decision, the board found Anthony Abbate guilty of aggravated battery and other charges in connection with the Feb. 19, 2007, incident at a Northwest Side bar. He also was found guilty of striking a customer at the bar numerous times.

Abbate already has been convicted in criminal court of felony aggravated battery.

EXCELLENT!
Thank you for a nice Christmas present!
Guys that do that to Women, Kids and Dogs should be stitched into a burlap bag with a Wolverine, then be thrown in a river.

I am sure that all the decent LEOs out there are glad that people like this (who give the rest of them a bad name) are tossed out of the force. It's good that it finally caught up with him.

Did he get any jail time for this, I don't remember. I am glad he got canned.
He got probation and community service. I feel the judge dropped the ball on that aspect.

This fat tub o guts tossed that woman around like a rag doll. I mean he really beat her up, holding on to her while he wailed away for quite a while. She probably would have been convicted of assault if the camera hadn't of been rolling. After his trial prosecutors quoted the letter of the law that allowed such a light sentence. Today's official termination was just a formality, probably to cut off any pension or any benefits. When he was convicted of a felony he lost his right to be in law enforcement, or own a gun. This guy is a really stupid drunken bully. He will surely repeat his actions. If he doesn't kill somebody next time maybe at least he'll get some lumps in the greystone hotel. I wouldn't waste a perfectly good Wolverine on a POS like him.

Though oftimes the wheels of justice grind slowly, they usually grind justly.

This time they did...the law enforcement profession is enhanced with this punk gone.

Be safe.

That piece of living, breathing, walking human excrement deserves more than a slap on the wrist. There is some justice in knowing that it (won't call it a he) won't be carrying anymore, legally anyway, and won't be living on a publically supported pension. But, I guess it's better than having it still on the job.

Justice?
He'll probably list "Chicago Police Department" on his resume and get hired as a "security contractor" (read mercenary) in the overseas sandbox.
And make 5 times the money he did in Chicago.

Let me remind us that another leo was present and didnt stop it. What was done to him?

We need that bunch to take on the Oklahoma and Arkansas Highway Patrol here.

In Arkansas they shoot at very close range and never ask questions. In Oklahoma they just beat the snot out of you or choke you near to death then lie about it. I'm not a fan of LEO by any means over all. BUT I use to respect OHP a tad. Not anymore! They have turned into real Nazi type SS morons.

I know LEO's risk there life's every day to do there job's. But so do I. delt with 400 hp pumps for a major hospital today. How a bout the nurse's and doctors that die from treating folks nobody ever hears about. How about the power company linemen. Or the trash collector. <<<<< a very important person IMHO.

It seems they never pull all the works out on folks that need it and treat everybody like there freaking felons! NO FREAKING LEO WILL EVER MAKE ME LAY DOWN LIKE A DOG MAN TO MAN. I learned that when I lived in So-Cal. You want me to lay down like a dog,,,, man up *****,,,,, See you in HELL!!! Man to man.... :)

this kind of crap as been going on in the chicago police department for decades. aint nuttin new.

back in the sixties. when old man daley was king, he ordered his leo to "shoot to kill" the protesters who had gathered downtown in the park.

they followed their master's order well and shot everything that moved................protesters, tourists, by standers.

1st amendment rights?? 2nd amendment rights?? not around here brother.

Feb. 2007- let's see, only took 2 years and 10 months!!! If the Police Superintendent at the time had a set of you-know-whats, he would have just fired the mug the next day, and made him fight to get his job back!

I rep a major that is located in Morton Grove. I don't go there anymore unless I drive and am packing. Chi. is all about corrupt. Protection for the thugs. Honest folks are crap there.

FYI:
The "shoot to kill" order, was done during the post MLK assassination race riots on the west side, due to wide spread looting and arson.
It was NOT part of the democratic conventions downtown crowd/riot control activities. Two completely separate and distinct locations, causes and outcomes.

Uh...I was there. Having started a job for a business machine company early in '68. The protesters may have "staged" in the park, but from there they proceeded through downtown throwing rocks and bottles. We were eating lunch in a restaurant on Michigan Ave. when a large pack of these scamps broke the front window spreading glass on the people sitting nearby. They were well organized in some respects, having "medics" recognizable by white G.I. helmets and white garb with a reflective red tape cross on their chests. They therefore knew there were gonna be casualties as a result of the not so peaceful protests. I don't remember any shots fired. Some non protesters with long hair were surely caught up by police and wrongly beaten. I worked for a really conservative company and had very short hair and a white shirt and tie. It was chaos, and police took the steps necessary to maintain control. The west side of Chicago went up in flames earlier in the year, and Daley 1 was not going to let it happen in the most financially productive part of town.

Was there too Jc.
I got home to Chicago just in time to have the 65' Dodge Coronet street ram I owned at the time, get a city park trash barrel with contents set afire dropped on it's hood from an overpass at about Kedzie Avenue, while I was west bound on the Eisenhower expressway.
That was Night #1.
