I have a .22 masterpiece 6" bbl. with a bulge in the bbl. 2" in from the muzzle . 1951 mfg. date near perfect bluing.
The gun is near perfect all nos. match including the grips.
One can just feel the bulge and see it inside the bbl.
I was wondering, if I removed the bbl. would there be someone who could cut the bbl. to 4" and re mount the front site. where can I find this person?

Thank you

I would contact Nelson Ford in Phoenix, AZ. He is a S&W specialist, and has an affinity for K22s. He would probably not do a barrel cut, but would be top of my list to replace a barrel and may have a line on a replacement.

i would like to keep matching sns. on the gun.
It shoots good . thanks for the info, now to decide .......

Thanks to all.

Unfortunately, in this day and age, you'd be better off financially finding a similar gun without the barrel issue and parting out the current one vs. paying a competent gunsmith to do the work you describe. Plus, you'll have a nicer, all-original gun instead of an oddball without collector value. The Internet makes it far too easy to find high condition shooters from the comfort of your desk or living room.
