A Pair of Early 1950s Masterpieces

.

Okay, when I started off here I thought this was going to be more meaningful than it turned out when I got the copy of the letter out, but consider it a piece of the puzzle rather than a shocking revelation. This is a wide rib/heavy barrel K-22 shipped January 10, 1956---in Satin Blue---so the SWAG up above about when the finish changed from Satin to Bright Blue is close enough for government work!

Ralph Tremaine

Not sure if you are saying you have a 6" K22 that letters as having shipped in 56 in "Satin" blue, if so it is an anomaly I have never witnessed in the wild.
Have any pictures ?

Is this the label?

Very cool. Obviously, they still had a few maroon boxes lying around (or as you call them, burgundy). I wonder when that one shipped. There were five K-38s assembled on June 6, 1947. In May, 1948, 320 units were assembled. Three units that I know of shipped in February, 1948. Those all had four digit numbers in the K4500 range.
