Folks, I've found a NIB gold box K-22, and they want $1000: is this in the ballpark? I'm a new guy at this, and almost feel ashamed to ask for advice.

Thanks to all of you for your great knowledge, and since I've deduced you love pictures, I will make the effort to photograph my Steve Woods 686, Bob Lloyd 66, NIB Model 28, and flawless 1958 .38.

What does the address line look like? Do you have a serial number?
You said it is with the box. Is the gun in As-new condition?
All that will have an effect on value.

BTW - there is never "shame" in asking questions when the goal is to learn.

If the gun is like new and has correct screw driver and paperwork with the box then it sounds like market price. Maybe bellow market if it has a really low serial number (3 digit)

Try to get pics of the K22. And also get the serial number. Make sure all numbers match, including the box. Also that it's not a reblue. If it's really a NIB with matching numbers and papers and tools, I'd say that price is in the ballpark. Also...this is one place where you don't have to "almost feel ashamed" to ask for opinions and advice! I'm hoping you can follow up with pics of that K22. I'd love to see it!

An as new in box K22 made in 1946 or 1947 (which covers the K xxx guns) is clearly worth $1000. I'd pay it. I'm guessing we'd have a bidding war here if you opened it to the members.

How do you know its got the correct screwdriver and cleaning rod? :) Just asking. We speculate on this all the time, but the sight adjuster (screwdriver) Should be nickel plated steel. Aluminum is wrong, and blue is possible, but unlikely.

I appreciate your replies. It's obvious I'm out of my league on this one, so I'll do a bit more research beyond Mr. Jenks' book.
