I'm looking to pick up my first K-22 from the usual auction sites. I see them from $500 through $1800. Is there a particular serial range that is more desirable than another?

Given comparable condition, the rule in most cases is the earlier the better. Lower serial number are more desirable than higher, pre-model marked more desirable than model 17, model 17 more desirable than 17-3, diamond grips more desirable than non, etc. Boxes and other accessories add to the value. Aftermarket grips may add or detract.
In an online auction, at least one other person believes that the gun is worth one bid less than the winning bidder is willing to pay. So, if you see what you like, you can't go very far wrong.

The name "K-22" can cover a lot of territory, from high value pre-war Outdoorsmans to post war guns.It has also be applied to post 1957 guns and current production.Quite a few different models can wear the name.
It all depends on your shooting/collecting desires.

I see one auction asking for $1800. That seems a bit high. But other than rarity, there is no reason why the $600 ones wouldn't perform as well?
