Wow, it has been a long time since I have bought a revolver! I just picked up a 4" model 64 and I am planning on carrying it on a trip out west in October. The problem came when I started looking for a holster for it. I can get any holster I desire, as long as it is for some sort of an auto pistol. I would prefers something that is not custom, as I don't want to drop quite that much coin on a holster for a gun that I will not be carrying full time. I also would like to have it in hand by September. What I would like is a right hand, leather belt or paddle holster, that covers the entire barrel. I would really prefer that it rides a little bit "high," but that is not a requirement. Any ideas on what might work for me here. I have tried searching ebay and amazon, but you have to sift through so much non-useful stuff, it has not been successful.

Just another suggestion...eBay is a great source for used holsters for revolvers. You can usually get a nice one for $15-$20. That's where I got one for my 64.

I see two Hunter's for sale right now. Look up "Hunter 1100-30" (that's the model for a 4" barrel).

I have a brand new Safariland pancake for a 3 inch barrel. Dark brown with a thumbsnap. High ride and good for strong side or crossdraw. If you don't mind an inch of barrel sticking out the bottom, you are welcome to it. Let me know and I will send it to you.

If I can find them in abundance here in Montana as wel as on eBay, you should have NO problems in your area. For eBay simply enter K frame holster leather and see what comes up.

There are several fellow forum members that do a GREAT job...give them a try.

Randy

PS. I had several K frame holsters on eBay and they went very quickly.

Welcome to the Forum! :)

Look up members Snubbyfan, Lobogunleather, 05CarbonDZR and Eaglestroker.

All four do good work for a very reasonable price and turn around tends to be about a month to six weeks but they could give you a better estimate on turn around.

O.K. Going to try again. Just lost a long post. Just last week I received a fantastic paddle holster, basket weave, medium brown from Rodek Leather Works, Inc. I received it in about ten days from mailing the check, cost shy of $50. Mine looks just like one on his web site. Look them up, I don't have the web site to give you, but I just searched the Rodek name. I have worn the holster for the last three days am really impressed with the high ride, and the concealment is good even under a T shirt.

+1 for checking out Ed Rodek. He's very quick and quite affordable.

Now I'm a big fan of Lobo - just got my second Enhanced Pancake from him this past week. But I was in a hurry for something and got exactly what I wanted from Rodek in under 10 days from the time we figured out he could actually make it. (It was a pancake holster with thumb break for a pre-J frame 22/32 Kit Gun, and we had to determine whether the J-frame-size blue gun he had as a pattern would work for my gun - the email exchanges were interesting.) As with Igiveup's experience - under $50 delivered.

Try El Paso Saddlery. I have the strong side select for my model 66. It's very well made and they have a good selection.I use a Mitich Rosen belt that I bought from Dillion Precision it's double thickness leather. It serves double duty I have worn it to work for the last 10 years I work construction .

Thanks for all the help on this. My search skills on ebay needed honed. I searched with the suggested help and got a lot more options than I had found previously. I ended up finding a nice Speed Scabbard here on the for sale forum. I have exclusively carried 1911's for so long, I have not purchased a new holster in some years!

Roy's pancake holster (obsolete); can be worn strong side or crossdraw. ebay currently has a few examples up for auction that are made for 4" K-frame.

Hey, I resemble that remark!

I would highly recommend the El Paso #2 Thumb Break holster.

I put my Galco Phoenix holster away after getting this one. It fits like a glove and the the quality is unsurpassed IMHO.
