K frame question

K frame question; not one, but two. Both about the side plate,on the Mdl. 19-

It would not bother most I guess, but when you have the hammer getting the light "scored" marks on the right hand, (side plate side) how do you cure it ?

If it were the other side of the hammer, depending on the severity, I think the remedy is a hammer shim ? What to do on the side plate side?

The # 2 question is likely just a matter of personal preference. When re-installing the side plate, do you attach the hammer block lever,(with grease) to the side plate, or do you place it on the pin that activates it up and down.

Wouldnt worry about the hammer rubbing, its found a place it likes. you could look at the side plate and see if burrs are present in the area its causing it. but if not its just honest wear

the hammer block goes on the pin in the up position(blocking hammer) and then you put sideplate on it should go into groove if its in that position. Light grease, you should not even be able to see the grease. i put some on my fingers give the parts a rub so it has a thin film of grease.

Make sure screw that holds yoke goes back in as the yoke screw if its before the little plunger version.

I stone off the light burrs on the side plate. The hammer block is placed in its slot on the revolver after a light coating of oil.

You possibly could use hammer shims.

I've always placed the hammer block on the pin, pushed all the way up so the pin is at the bottom of the pin slot. The sideplate will push in with thumb pressure.

I've always been a Dri-Slide believer so far as lubricant goes.

I do NOT use grease on the Hammer Block. I push it up into it's upper most position and slide the side plate up simultaneously (groove in SP lined up with HB) as I am fitting it on the gun. Works every time without the greasy stuff.........
