While visiting our local gun show yesterday, I purchased a set of K frame stocks. They are shown in the attached pictures. I’m looking for any information on what era they are from and what the “KPC” stamps on the back side might mean. Comments are appreciated. Tom H.

They date from 1967-8 to around 1973 and were factory supplied on a fixed sight K frames and the Model 15 2" (K-38 Combat Masterpiece).

The serial number on the back of the right panel shows they were fitted to a gun at the factory.

I have an unfired 10-2 that dates to May, 1962. It has a carefully fitted set of plain clothes stocks numbered to the gun.

Yes, they're worth $40. Did you get the grip screw?
A stash of older factory stocks comes in handy if you're going to accumulate S&W revolvers. They haven't made stocks in decades and they won't get any cheaper.

These recently sold on ebay. They have silver colored washers and probably date from 1973 to the early 1980's. Shipping was an additional $7.50 and ebay tacked on your State sales tax.

Sadly, they were without the screw. I’ve got a Model 13-1 with target stocks that I contemplated using the PC’s on. The idea is to get back to the 13’s original state. Bad idea?

No, a great idea. They might not fit exactly but most are pretty close, and the service (Magna) stocks need a slightly shorter stock screw than the wider Target stocks. I recall Ace (?) Hardware has a good selection of gun-related screws.
