K22 and Mod. 17 "Versions"

I have a S&W model 17 K22 Masterpiece with a SN: K 69135. I know it's old can anyone tell be when it was made?

fyimo already (in post #18) answered that question for you, approximate ship date was 1948. Normally, there is a question about how long before shipping a gun was made since S&W only gives shipping dates. On your specimen however, because of the time of manufacture and the fact they were in high demand, you can be fairly certain that it was also made in 1948. BTW, the amount of information you have gotten out of this one question would be worth at least a reading of pertinent sections of SCSW at your local library or big box book store. You might surprise yourself with what other questions are answered that you haven't even thought of. A pleasant afternoon over coffee at B&N or other bookstore or without the coffee in the quiet library isn't as much fun as shooting, but on a cold, rainy day...

Who knows, you might get interested enough to buy the book and buy more S&Ws. Stranger things have happened and you obviously have at least some interest.
