I'm at the Phoenix show and looking at a K22 Outdoorsman pinto. Guy says it's factory, has a gold bead front sight, beautiful gun. Has anyone ever heard of a factory pre war pinto Outdoorsman?

Thanks

I've never seen one, but folks like RKmesa or JP@AK probably have, if they indeed exist.

Use your best judgment --- if the S/Ns on the barrel flat, cylinder, and grip all match, that's a pretty good start. If they don't, or the marks don't look right...

Anything is possible, but the first ones I can recall were from the mid-1950s.

If the seller has a factory letter that seals the deal, but if not and you are contemplating a purchase I would make it contingent on the letter of authenticity confirmation.

All numbers matching including the stocks. He says his father was one of the founding members of the SWCA in 1970, last name Cornett, anybody recognize

Well yes, Ed Cornett was a prominent founding member of the SWCA who passed away last year. One of his sons (Ken) is still an active member (saw him at the last Symposium in Tulsa). So if you like the gun and it checks out I think you have a deal!

He said his father just passed away, bought a bunch of pre war stocks from him very reasonable

He was saying to people he didn't want to sell. They made him an offer he couldn't refuse

Pinto O/Ds peg the cool meter. That's why I had Phil Quigley do this one for me (grips by Keith Brown and re-color case trigger and hammer by Turnbull)...

...and in/on a Glenn Dean case...

They really do look beautiful as pintos...

I probably need to head down to the show tomorrow just to say hello to Ken.

Good Lord Richard, those 2 are spectacular! I know I've seen them before, but goodness gracious, they are special. Is the Dean Case kinda new? I may have seen it before, but don't remember. Being able to "house" those 2 gems in an awesome case like that is fantastic!

Richard, I forgot to write in my last post how much I love your Glenn Dean cases. To me, and I may be completely wrong, they are kinda like a fancy "Kearsarge" wooden case. I assume Mr. Dean needs your guns to make the fit perfect. Thanks for sharing as always.
