If it's a 5 digit serial number, probably 1948. A 6 digit number beginning with 198 would likely be 1953. There should also be a letter 'K' to the left of the number. That's actually part of the gun's serial number.
It is 5 digit K prefix in I would guess to be about 85% with light holster and cylinder ring wear. Anybody have an idea what it is worth? I don't know how to post pics.
Value is $500-550 a little more at 85%, I would say. Five-screw K-22s over 95% can bring $600-650. Early postwar K-22s have been much in demand for at least a year, and prices have climbed over where they were as recently as a couple of years ago.
